The January 6 attack on Capital was a very serious violent challenge to what little Democracy there is in the United States. I support a full and complete investigation and prosecution to full extent of the law of those involved including those who actively promoted the insurrection attempt.
It is hard to believe that President Trump and others closely associated with him will escape serious charges and prosecution. President Trump has shown that he has no regard for Democracy, our constitution, the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power. I hope at least he will be barred from running for any political office in the future.
There is a great deal wrong with the United States government, but the attempted insurrection was not meant to correct any of those problems!
However, give Trump credit for exposing how fragile our government and society is from a dictatorship and fascism. Many of these weaknesses in our constitution and government structure were created by our founding fathers to guarantee rule by the few! These weaknesses have clearly been exploited by the military industrial complex (MIC). It could be argued that currently any assemblage of democracy and rule by the people is at the whim of the MIC.
