The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) endorse the following statement as the official position of GPUS regarding the war in Ukraine:
GPAX/GPUS Statement On War In Ukraine
The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) views the war in Ukraine with great concern. As the US party of peace, we emphatically oppose the recourse to war as a means of inter-state dispute resolution and, accordingly, condemn the present violence in Ukraine by all sides. With respect to the US and Western response, we express specific concerns regarding:
1. The militaristic approach of indefinitely arming Ukraine. This strategy is demonstrably flawed. Ukraine is losing the war (despite heavy Western military assistance) and protracting the conflict through further armament will only lead to more death and destruction in Ukraine – not to a Ukrainian victory. This approach does not reflect a sincere interest in the well-being of the Ukrainian people, but rather the geopolitical and financial interests of Western elites.
2. The misbegotten approach of imposing inefficacious and self-destructive sanctions on Russia. This strategy is empirically flawed. In keeping with the long track record of previous failures of punitive sanctions regimes, the current sanctions on Russia have not altered its behavior in Ukraine. Instead, they have increased its energy revenues and strengthened the Ruble, while damaging the Western European economy and undermining confidence in the US financial system. Aggravating international tensions through economic warfare will not bring peace to Ukraine.
3. The unwillingness to engage in diplomacy. A ceasefire, and subsequent negotiated peace, is the only realistic way to end the war shy of the utter ruination of Ukraine. Adoption of a realistic negotiating position and willingness to make concessions is essential to the initiation of genuine peace talks, but the U.S. has failed to pursue a diplomatic solution.
4. The dishonest portrayal of developments in Ukraine. Russian aggression is rightfully covered and denounced. However, sole attribution of blame to Russia whitewashes an extended history of inimical US interference in Ukraine, contributing to current hostilities. Additionally, depiction of the Zelensky Government as a democratic force representative of the Ukrainian people and selective coverage of Ukrainian military successes deceitfully engender popular support for the failing strategy of continued military aid. The West proudly lauds its freedom of speech and press. We encourage Western media to make use of this right in accurately and critically covering events in Ukraine.
GPUS calls for cessation of unconditional military aid to Ukraine, lifting of counter-productive sanctions regimes, and initiation of genuine negotiations toward a ceasefire and sustainable peace framework! We implore the Biden Administration to use its position of influence to facilitate peace by encouraging peace talks and engaging with Russia to de-escalate tensions – not to fuel war by further arming Ukraine and prolonging a terrible conflict.

This will require a commitment of minimal hours for our website administrators to publish the statement, the Coordinated Campaign Committee to publicize the statement to our candidates, and occasional work by our Media Coordinators to publicize the statement and make reference to it in further publications. It is anticipated that our candidates, campaign teams and peace activists in the party will further publicize the statement and use it for campaign purposes.

2022-11-15 Top Green Results – US House, two-way races -E-mail from Elections Database Manager, Green Party of the United States
Dear Greens
This year California Green Michael Kerr (Contra Costa County) became only the fifth California Green to make it onto the November ballot since top two elections were put in place in 2012, three for US House of Representatives and two for State Assembly. This history is covered in this article in the GPUS Newspaper Green Pages:
At the same time, Kerr also became only the 18th Green in the U.S. to be on a U.S. House general election ballot in a two-way race vs. a Democrat or a Republican, receiving 20.1% of the vote as of November 14th, 2022 counts. Note that Kerr’s final % of the vote and total votes will likely change somewhat as ballots are still being counted in California.
Below is the list of all 18 two-way races in which a Green in the U.S. has appeared on the ballot and contested; followed by a list of only Greens vs. Democrats and then only Greens vs. Republicans. Kerr’s race is the eight highest among the 18.

Those of us in the United States who have opposed our government’s wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq are familiar with what the Russian people are experiencing today. And we salute them and send our support and solidarity through our public statement. Please sign and send the statement to your friends and colleagues so that they will do the same.
SOLIDARITY STATEMENT:
WE URGE AN END TO THE WAR AND NEGOTIATIONS LEADING TO A JUST PEACE INCLUDING RESPECT FOR UKRAINIAN SOVEREIGNTY AS A NEUTRAL STATE.
This petition was initiated by the Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security.
Co-sponsors: CODEPINK, Peace Action, United for Peace and Justice, Western States Legal Foundation, 1040 For Peace.
Russia wanted a neutral sovereign Ukraine state, but U.S./NATO and Ukraine have clearly always had other intentions! Russia had a well stated RED LINE and U.S./NATO and Ukraine deliberately crossed it to provoke Russia into its invasion!
Unfortunately, while I want to support Russian peace activists, I cannot sign any statement concerning the Russia/Ukraine war that does not address the U.S. involvement in creating and promoting this war! This war starts with the orchestrated 2014 coup of an elected government, 8 years of attacks on the people of Donbas area, Ukraine military build-up with NATO weapons and harassment of people of Crimea. Russia, in my opinion exhibited many years of extreme patience before invading. Russia for many months offered a peaceful solution to the 8-year conflict while the U.S. directed Ukraine to ignore any honest negotiation. Russia’s reasonable demands involved no fighting, no violence, no additional territorial seizure, no NATO membership, but just a permanent end to the conflict in Ukraine on the separatist areas of the Donbas by neo-Nazi Ukrainian military units.
This war is seriously different from U.S. unilateral unprovoked wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Not to mention Libya, Syria! Not to mention active support of Saudi Arabia war on Yemen, Israel war on Palestinians. The United States has used a secretive procedure called ‘127e’ to launch at least 23 “proxy wars” across the globe since 2017, claimed an Intercept report.
Not to mention U.S. sponsored coups in Haiti, Honduras, Venezuela. The CIA has interfered in over 50 countries since the late 1940’s, either in their elections or by supporting military or political coups.
Not to mention the “act of war” sanctions that as of March 2022, included Afghanistan, the Balkans, Belarus, Burma, Central African Republic, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. Unlike the United States “war crimes” listed above where the U.S. proper was actually never threatened (only U.S. imperialist interests), Russia has been experiencing actual threats to its homeland! Russia only invaded Ukraine after it became a grave threat to Russia proper and U.S./NATO/Ukraine ignored Russia’s red line in the sand as to U.S./NATO expansion and arming of Ukraine!
In Peace, Justice, Ecology & Human Rights,
Michael E. Kerr

The Scientific Community gave us 10–20 years to prevent civilization ending runaway Global Warming.
Little has been done politically since to address the pending Climate Catastrophe.
We need worldwide cooperation, yet the U.S. refuses to lead. Instead, it is instigating disastrous military and economic wars with Russia and China.
There are over 650 U.S. Billionaires. Anyone one of them could have successfully financed Congressional candidates to solve the climate crisis, but none did.
Why would the super-rich allow the world they basically own to be destroyed? Are they all stupid? Greedy yes, stupid no!
Then how can they save this world, civilization, environment, and all life as we know it?
With time running out there is only one fast solution, the quick elimination of 6-7 billion people.
Most efficient way is with a deadly virus and an effective vaccine for only some!
Please tell me I am wrong!

*** Republicans: With no Republican candidate, in a district Republicans never win, Republicans have an opportunity to vote for a non-Democrat who will be as critical of the Democratic Party leadership as on Republicans.
*** Democrats: My Democratic opponent claims to be a progressive, but has never publicly opposed his Democratic Party leadership. While I will caucus with the Democrat Party, I will not otherwise be publicly silent on progressive issues. A real progressive does more than vote progressive and then pretend that that is enough!
*** Independents: and those who seldom vote, you now can have an outspoken independent voice!
