THE #CLIMATEPRESIDENT ACTION PLAN:THE 10 ESSENTIAL STEPS PRESIDENT BIDEN MUST TAKE ON CLIMATE

THE #CLIMATEPRESIDENT ACTION PLAN:
THE 10 ESSENTIAL STEPS PRESIDENT BIDEN MUST TAKE ON CLIMATE

The United States faces an indisputable climate emergency. The solution to the crisis is also inarguable: We must transform our extractive economy to a regenerative and inclusive one.

The actions called for in this Presidential action plan can be implemented by the President acting alone without any Congressional action. These ten actions form the necessary foundation for the country’s true transformation to a safer, healthier, and more equitable world for everyone.

The only real question: How can we make this large-scale transition quickly enough to limit warming to below 1.5°C in a manner that is fair, just, and equitable to all?

If the world is to have any reasonable chance of staying below 1.5°C and avoiding the worst impacts of climate change, the President of the United States must demonstrate national and global leadership and take immediate and decisive action to launch a rapid and just transition off of fossil fuels economy-wide. Recognizing the steps that the President can take without any additional action from Congress is critical because these are the “no excuses” actions that can be taken immediately to set the nation on a course to zero emissions.

The actions called for in this Presidential action plan can be implemented by the President acting alone without any Congressional action.

We recognize that a full solution to the climate crisis requires action at all levels of government and from many different aspects of society. The President should also work with Congress to pass a Green New Deal, as well as with state and local governments and in international forums to achieve further action at every scale from the very local to the truly global. The Presidential action plan below crystallizes the top ten most important actions the President can take on climate to launch a broad mobilization to drive U.S. greenhouse emissions to zero through a just and equitable transition.

While the actions outlined in this plan can be initiated by a single individual — the President — they will touch the lives of every person living in America and those beyond who are harmed by the climate crisis. As a fundamental building block of this plan, we must take this once-in-a-century opportunity to establish new relationships of power that are centered in justice, equity, and environmental sustainability to give our future a fighting chance.

In implementing each of the actions described herein, the President must prioritize support for communities that historically have been harmed first and most by the extractive economy, including communities of color, Indigenous communities, and low-wealth communities. The President must also take special care to ensure that the rights of Indigenous Peoples are upheld, which includes following the Indigenous Principles of Just Transition. Moreover, climate policies must drive job growth and spur a new green economy that is designed and built by communities and workers and that provides union jobs with family-sustaining wages. These policies must ensure that workers in the energy sector and related industries, whose jobs will be fundamentally transformed, are not abandoned.

Finally, these policies must espouse energy democracy by empowering communities long-polluted by the dirty energy economy to govern their own electricity systems, choose clean and affordable energy, and reinvest profits back into their local communities instead of utility pockets.

The first steps that would put us clearly on a path to a regenerative and inclusive society can be launched immediately by the President. In January 2021, we will insist that the President take these ten steps in their first ten days in office. These ten actions form the necessary foundation for the country’s true transformation to a safer, healthier, and more equitable world for everyone.

TEN ESSENTIAL CLIMATE ACTIONS PRESIDENT BIDEN CAN TAKE WITHOUT CONGRESS

1. Declare a national climate emergency under the National Emergencies Act

This step will communicate the urgency of the climate crisis and unlock specific statutory powers to help accomplish the necessary response. Reinstate the crude oil export ban and promote rapid clean energy development per emergency powers; all other actions in this plan can be accomplished under the President’s regular executive powers. Direct relevant federal agencies to reverse all Trump administration executive climate rollbacks and replace with sufficiently strong action as described below.

2. Keep fossil fuels in the ground

End new fossil fuel leasing and development approvals, ban fracking, and commit to a plan to phase out existing extraction:

  • Issue an Executive Order directing the Secretary of the Interior to immediately halt all fossil fuel lease sales and permits, phase out existing extraction, and ban fracking on federal lands and waters under existing resource extraction laws.
  • Issue an Executive Order directing the EPA Administrator to issue a stringent pollution prevention rule for the oil and gas sector, effectively stopping fracking and other ultra-hazardous and energy-intensive extraction methods everywhere.
  • Commit to work with federal agencies, states, and Congress to complete a plan to phase out all U.S. fossil fuel extraction over the next several decades.

3. Stop fossil fuel exports and infrastructure approvals

  • Issue an Executive Order immediately re-instituting the crude oil export ban.
  • Issue an Executive Order halting gas exports to the fullest extent allowed by the Natural Gas Act.
  • Issue an Executive Order directing all federal agencies to deny permits for new fossil fuel infrastructure projects, including but not limited to pipelines, import and export terminals, storage facilities, refineries, and petrochemical plants, consistent with the science demonstrating that any such projects are incompatible with limiting temperature rise to below 1.5°C.

4.  Shift financial flows from fossil fuels to climate solutions

Issue an Executive Order directing actions to promote investments in climate solutions instead of dirty fossil fuels, including:

  • Establishing a new mandate for the Federal Reserve and Secretary of the Treasury to manage climate risk
  • Urging the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to mandate corporate disclosure of material risks related to the climate crisis in SEC filings, including disclosure of asset retirement obligations
  • Directing the Department of Energy to end all loan and guarantee financing programs for fossil fuels
  • Abolishing the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy
  • Directing the State Department, U.S. Treasury, U.S. Export-Import Bank, and U.S. Development Finance Corporation to prohibit any U.S. government financing to fossil fuel projects and related infrastructure overseas
  • Directing all federal agencies to ensure that polluters who enter into settlements in connection with corporate wrongdoing are not able to deduct the payments from their taxes, thereby stopping the shift of a significant portion of the burden onto taxpayers.

5. Use the Clean Air Act to set a science-based national pollution cap for greenhouse pollutants. Then, use all Clean Air Act programs to drive emissions towards zero economy-wide

  • Issue an Executive Order directing the EPA to designate greenhouse pollutants as criteria air pollutants and set a science-based national pollution cap (National Ambient Air Quality Standard, or NAAQS) under the Clean Air Act. The science-based target is essential to unlock the full power of the Clean Air Act and ensure that the overall climate action plan will succeed.
  • Direct the EPA to issue strict Clean Air Act rules to rapidly reduce greenhouse emissions from power plants, motor vehicles, airplanes, ships and trains, including implementing a ban on the sale of all new fossil fuel vehicles by 2030.

6. Power the electricity sector with 100% clean and renewable energy by 2030 and promote energy democracy

  • Pursuant to the National Emergencies Act, issue an Executive Order directing the Secretary of Defense to redirect a portion of military spending to carry out a rapid construction program of renewable energy projects to meet a significant portion of the nation’s power needs. The program shall prioritize photovoltaic solar installations built on already existing structures, and well-managed wind and PV solar installations and battery storage sited on already-degraded environments — and in doing so, generate a substantial number of new family-sustaining jobs.
  • Pursuant to emergency powers, provide critical loan guarantees:
    • To clean energy developers, including communities and cooperatives, to help cover upfront costs for new renewable generation;
    • To building and home owners for building electrification, weatherization, and energy efficiency upgrades; and
    • To compel utilities to transform the egregiously-outdated and unsafe grid system with technologies that are aligned with a resilient, decentralized, and modern energy system.
  • Issue an Executive Order directing the Rural Utility Service to purchase stranded fossil fuel assets of rural cooperatives and municipal power providers on terms that would commit the cooperatives and providers to 100% solar and wind generation by 2030.
  • Direct the Department of Energy to rapidly shift and expand existing federal energy financing programs to prioritize funding for clean energy projects (e.g. distributed and community solar) and alternative energy governance models (e.g. worker-owned cooperatives and community choice aggregation) in communities that are disproportionately harmed by the dirty energy economy. All actions should be designed to ensure that energy burdens for low- and middle-income communities are lowered, and the President should direct the Department of Commerce and other relevant agencies to implement policies that protect against any inadvertent energy price hikes.

7. Launch a just transition to protect our communities, workers, and economy

Issue an Executive Order creating an inter-agency just transition task force with a deadline of six months to create a comprehensive, multi-industry, national program that guarantees support and protection for affected communities and workers.

The task force must meaningfully consult with unions, workers, Indigenous Peoples, and frontline community organizations, and include the EPA, Departments of Labor, Energy, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Interior, Defense, and other relevant agencies

8. Advance Climate Justice: Direct federal agencies to assess and mitigate environmental harms to disproportionately impacted Indigenous Peoples, People and Communities of Color, and low-wealth communities

  • Issue an environmental justice Executive Order that strengthens Executive Order 12898 by directing federal agencies to:
    • Pro-actively “mitigate,” instead of only to “identify and address,” disproportionate health and environmental impacts of their programs on Indigenous Peoples, low-income and low-wealth communities, and people and communities of color
    • Use geographic, socioeconomic, and environmental hazard metrics when identifying environmental justice communities.
  • Direct the Department of Treasury, Health and Human Services, and the Attorney General to commence a study for mitigation and payment of damages to those deliberately and disproportionately exposed to and harmed by fossil fuel pollution and toxins.
  • Direct the Department of Justice to institute rules to protect the rights of individuals protesting climate and environmental harms, including from extreme prosecution and disproportionate sentencing for such persons.
  • Issue an Executive Orderdirecting the Departments of Justice and Interior to investigate and, as appropriate, seek damages and restoration from fossil fuel industry actors found responsible for damages to public lands and waters, including the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Reverse all harmful and unethical Trump immigration directives and issue a cross-agency directive to respond to and absorb the growing number of climate-displaced persons who are impacted by extreme weather events and other climate impacts. The new system must preserve the human rights, health, safety, and dignity of all persons affected by climate-induced migration and displacement.

9. Make polluters pay: Investigate and prosecute fossil fuel polluters for the damages they have caused. Commit to veto all legislation that grants legal immunity for polluters, undermines existing environmental laws, or advances false solutions

  • Direct the Attorney General to investigate all legal violations by fossil fuel polluters and prosecute them to the maximum extent of the law, including by supporting the “nuisance” and “fraud” suits brought by more than a dozen local and state governments against fossil fuel producers for the damages they have caused. Like asbestos, tobacco and opioid manufacturers, the fossil fuel industry had long-standing knowledge of the risks associated with their products; rather than taking steps to prevent climate change, the industry took action to conceal and deny that knowledge and discredit climate science, in contradiction to their own internal research and the actions they took to protect their assets from climate impacts.
  • Commit to veto all legislation that grants legal immunity to polluters from nuisance and other climate claims, or that rolls back existing laws like the Clean Air Act, such as the “Baker-Shultz Carbon Dividend Plan” advanced by the oil-industry led Climate Leadership Council.
  • Commit to reject and to veto all other false solutions proposed by the polluters that have created and perpetuated the climate crisis including:
    • Market-based mechanisms and emissions trading schemes such as offsets which have proven both to be ineffective and to have harmful consequences, such as concentrating pollution in already overburdened environmental justice communities;
    • Technology options such as carbon capture and storage and the use of captured carbon for enhanced oil recovery, which perpetuate fossil fuel extraction and create new public dangers;
    • Biomass energy which increases carbon pollution per unit of energy and incentivizes clearcutting and other harmful forestry practices;
    • Waste-to-energy which similarly does not reduce greenhouse pollution and increases dangerous air pollution, usually in already overburdened environmental justice communities; and
    • Nuclear power which creates severe safety, health, proliferation, and waste disposal issues and is far more expensive than new clean and renewable energy. These corporate schemes all share the common characteristic that they place corporate profits over community well-being and perpetuate the many systemic injustices that have led to the climate emergency.

10. Rejoin the Paris Agreement and lead with science-based commitments that ensure that the United States, as the world’s largest cumulative historical emitter, contributes its fair share and advances climate justice

Vastly increase the United States’ emissions reduction commitment (Nationally Determined Contribution) to slash U.S. greenhouse emissions below 2005 levels by at least 70% by 2030 and reduce them to near zero by 2040 — in line with what science, equity, and climate justice demand. Include deadlines to halt all oil, gas, and coal production in the U.S. commitment and ensure that future agreements set limits on fossil fuel production consistent with meeting the 1.5°C target.

The actions in this report will form the backbone of the plan to achieve this commitment. However, because these domestic reductions alone are insufficient to fulfill the U.S. fair share of global climate action, the President must leverage their full executive authority and work with Congress to appropriate funds for large-scale financial and technological support to enable poorer countries to reduce their own emissions, as well as to support crucial adaptation measures so that vulnerable communities can survive the climate disruption already underway.

H.R.2590 Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act

Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act (H.R. 2590)

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) has introduced the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act (H.R. 2590) to prohibit Israel from using U.S. taxpayer dollars on the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention; to support the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law; or on any support or assistance for Israel’s unilateral annexation of Palestinian territory in violation of international humanitarian law.

Read Rep. McCollum’s full statement on the introduction of the bill here.

The Problem

Millions of Palestinians have lived their entire lives under the systemic oppression of Israel’s military occupation.

Israel is a U.S. ally and for the past 25 years, Congress has focused on providing Israel security funding while passing resolutions supporting a two-state solution. During this time, Israel has been strategically expanding settlements, committing flagrant violations of human rights against Palestinian children and families, and aggressively undermining any prospects for a Palestinian state.

U.S. assistance intended for Israel’s security should foster peace and must never be used to violate the human rights of children, demolish the homes of Palestinian families, or to permanently annex Palestinian lands.

The Legislation

The Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act prohibits U.S. taxpayer funding to the Government of Israel from being used for 1) the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention; 2) supporting the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law; and, 3) any support or assistance for Israel’s unilateral annexation of Palestinian territory in violation of international humanitarian law.

The Secretary of State is required to certify annually to Congress that foreign aid to Israel does not violate any of the outlined prohibited uses.

The bill also requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the expenditure of U.S. taxpayer funds by Israel for “off-shore procurement” and compliance with Congressionally mandated requirements. The goal of this provision is transparency and accountability for the expenditure of U.S. foreign aid, as we do with all countries.

Speak out Against Israel’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians in Masafer Yatta

Urge Your Member of Congress to Speak out Against Israel’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians in Masafer Yatta

Americans for Justice in Palestine Action (AJP Action) firmly condemns Israel’s plans to ethnically cleanse the city of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank. We call on Congress to demand the State Department rebuke Israel for the forced displacement of over 1000 Palestinians, a clear and reprehensible violation of international and human rights law.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS. TAKE ACTION BELOW!

Capping off a 20-year-long legal battle between Palestinians and Israeli occupation courts, Israel’s high court announced that over 1000 Palestinians can be forcibly displaced from Masafer Yatta, a city in the West Bank. These Palestinians are victims of Israel’s ethnic cleansing, displaced from their homes in order for their land to be repurposed for Israeli military use.

It is high time for the US to condition its military funding to Israel with respect to human rights and international law.

The Israeli high court’s decision is one of the biggest forced expulsion rulings since Israel began occupying Palestinian territories in 1967.

Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes and businesses constitutes a “grave breach” of international humanitarian law, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention which cites “extensive destruction and appropriation of property” and “unlawful deportation or transfer” as grave breaches of international law. The forced relocation of communities is a core element of the crime of apartheid. As a result, Israel’s actions are subject to criminal liability. Moreover, the legal concept of universal jurisdiction obligates State Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to arrest and prosecute those responsible for grave breaches of the Convention.

Thank you for taking action against injustice and standing for Palestine; we won’t stop until it’s free.

Dear [Member of Congress and two Senators],

I am writing as a constituent and supporter of AJP Action to express my outrage at the continued U.S. complicity in Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people. On May 5th, 2022, an Israeli high court ended a two-decade-long legal battle between Palestinians and an Israeli occupation court, by announcing that over 1000 Palestinians can be forcibly displaced from Masader Yatta, a city in the West Bank. Essentially, Palestinians are at a high risk of being ethnically cleansed and displaced from their homes in order for Israel to repurpose the land for Israeli military use. It is high time for the US to condition its military funding to Israel with respect to human rights and international law.

The Israeli high court’s decision is one of the biggest forced expulsion rulings since Israel began occupying Palestinian territories in 1967.

Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes and businesses constitutes a “grave breach” of international humanitarian law, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention, which includes as grave breaches “extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly,” and even “unlawful deportation or transfer” of the occupied population (i.e Palestinians). As a result, Israel’s actions are subject to criminal liability. Moreover, the legal concept of universal jurisdiction obligates State Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to arrest and prosecute those responsible for grave breaches of the Convention.

As my member of Congress, I urge you to speak out against the demolition of Masafer Yatta. I ask that you are actively vocal against Israel’s continued attempts to unlawfully and unjustly assault, arrest and ethnically cleanse Palestinians. If you haven’t already, I request that you support the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act and demand the U.S. Department of State robustly investigate whether Israel used any of the U.S financial and military assistance in committing these crimes, produce a report to Congress in due time, and hold Israel accountable for all of its human rights violations of the Palestinian people.

Palestinians deserve the right to safety and security within their own homes, and right now our tax dollars are invested in their oppression.

Signed,

.

2022 My current views on various issues

2022 My views on current issues (work in process pending final status)

Who am I

MICHAEL ERNEST KERR

Green Party Candidate for CA Congressional District 10

“Censorship and the Truth are not Compatible”

http://www.CreatingBetterWorld.org

Patriotism is not “My country right or wrong”! It is Nationalism that leads to wars and oppression.  Patriotism is “Make my country better and just”!  Whistleblowers exposing corruption of government and corporations are engaged in the truest acts of Patriotism!

Why I Am Running for Public Office

We have a government and mainstream media under the control of the military-industrial-prison complex and a few hundred powerful and rich people who comprise the Deep State. They are real and too be feared.

They act to smear and frame those who might successfully oppose them.

When that fails, they have orchestrated the deaths of outspoken leaders such as JFK, RFK, MLK and Malcolm X.

They attack imprison, exterminate whistleblowers and activists like Karen Silkwood, Brian Willson, Judi Bari, Mumia Abu Jamal, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Daniel Ellsberg, Ralph Nader, among others.

They conspire to keep or remove from political office those who would defy them publicly, such as Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney and Bernie Sanders since 2015.

The Deep State relentlessly promotes racial, religious, and social issues to divide, control and conquer us.

The Republican and Democratic Parties along with the Corporate Media have become the Deep State tools to subvert us.

Only when we understand this will we have a chance to unite and slay this demon that would willingly destroy us and the world for power and wealth.

With the Corporate Media long censoring opposing viewpoints of the government narrative on important issues, now we are seeing massive flagrant censorship in social media platforms at a level only seen in the most authoritative of governments.

I will be a bullhorn exposing the corruption in Congress and all our government agencies!

9/11 Attack

My congressional Statement    Absolutely nothing about the government/corporate media story is truth.  The 9/11 attacks were planned, managed and covered-up by my government.   Corporate media ownership joined in the cover-up.  Since the release of the 9/11 Commission report, which I consider a confession, I have offered a $100K reward to the first person who can prove (even demonstrate) that the government didn’t do 9/11.    Details

Abortion

Pro-choice   The Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision was an excellent compromise concerning a divisive issue.   The Democratic Party has failed us in not making the Supreme Court’s excellent compromise in the Roe v. Wade decision into legislative law.   That should be a priority in the future.

Why does the “Pro-Life” movement keep electing politicians who act as if the “Sanctity of Life Ends at Birth”. Social programs are often needed to guarantee the health and safety of mothers and children! Where is the Pro-Life in Pro-Life? Why do Pro-Choice people defend a woman’s right to control her own body and yet support a government policy that forces people to inject experimental vaccines into their body? Why do Pro-Life people want to force a woman to bear a pregnancy for 9 months yet scream against being forced to take a mandated vaccine that takes a minute? Lots of hypocrisy from both sides!

Assange, Juian

I demand that Julian Assange be freed immediately! Although he has done no wrong, in order to protect him from further oppression, I demand President Biden provide a full pardon! There needs to be significant reparations paid to Julian for all that he has been forced to suffer by England and the U.S. The attack on Julian has also been an attack on Wikileaks. The treatment of Assange and Wikileaks has been a grave threat to the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of speech and the press!

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”    https://defendwikileaks.org/

Banking

Ban Payday Loans   They often charge astronomical interest rates for short term loans which can trap low income into a never-ending struggle to survive financially.   They should be banned and replace with low interest post office and community bank loan programs.

Breakup Big Banks   Big Banks charge excessive fees and interest to middle and low income people while making special deals with the rich..  They promote loans to multi-national corporations for large infrastructure projects in smaller nations against the will of the local people.    They take money out of local communities and give back little in return.

Cap Credit Card Interest    Credit Card Interest rates are highway robbery, and they negatively affect the poor the most. Those who can’t make large payments so suffer years merely paying high interest.   The interest rates should be fixed to the Fed’s prime rate at a much lower rate.

Community Banking    Credit Unions and Community Banks provide reasonable financial service to most members of the community. They keep and invest the money in the local community.

Dodd-Frank      Dodd-Frank should only be improved and enforced more.    [The Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (commonly referred to as Dodd–Frank) is a United States federal law that was enacted on July 21, 2010.[1] The law overhauled financial regulation in the aftermath of the Great Recession, and it made changes affecting all federal financial regulatory agencies and almost every part of the nation’s financial services industry.]

Post Office Banking   Would provide low-cost checking accounts to help replace the outrageous Payday loan centers.

Public Banking   I support the California Public Banking Option Act (AB 1177) which has Passed the CA State Legislature.

We also have the opportunity now to build a new alternative banking system through locally-controlled socially and environmentally responsible public banks, enabling cities and counties to recapture public dollars and have a say over the financing of our own communities.   Cities and counties hold billions of dollars of public money in Wall Street banks. Legally, these corporate banks own and control this money which they have used to finance harmful industries including: private prisons, immigrant detention centers, weapons manufacturers, fossil fuel pipelines, and other investments that prioritize corporate profit over the people and the planet. These too-big-too-fail banks are also engaged in risky and fraudulent practices that crashed the global economy in 2008. https://californiapublicbankingalliance.org/

Would help keep money in the community for home, business and vehicle purchases and loans.

Business

Breakup Monopolies      Breakup monopolies!  Monopolies enrich a few individuals at the expense of communities, workers and local small businesses. Example: Walmart and Amazon warehouses could be a number of individual businesses that supply (at same wholesale prices) all retail stores regardless of size in their region. Then there would be affordable priced local retail stores in every community.

End Corporate Welfare      End tax breaks and subsidies to large corporations.

Stop Corporate Blackmail   Prevent Corporations from blackmailing and pitting communities against each other for tax breaks and other perks.

Small Businesses First     Eliminate unfunded bureaucratic legal paperwork on small businesses.  Encourage public bank and credit union financing of small business.

Worker Cooperatives         Encourage worker owned cooperatives!   Allow workers first right to purchase companies being closed or moved along with public financing.  Promote Cooperatives businesses!

California Democrats Fake Progressive Party

California has the wealth and knowledge to do the policies below. California is under total control of the Democratic Party, yet it has not implemented these policies for 12 years! One excuse after another!

Homelessness   Haven’t done anything that actually solves the problem as it keeps getting worse.   Homelessness is a complex, life-threatening problem. The Democrats could solve homelessness, but only if systems are designed to continually reduce and end it. Built for Zero.  About 0.4% of Californians and people who live in the state (161,000) are homeless.  California in 2017 had an oversized share of the nation’s homeless: 22%, for a state whose residents make up only 12% of the country’s total population.   “Housing First” principle, a policy in which the government offers unconditional housing for all. To put this into perspective, cities that do not abide by the housing first principle usually want the homeless to meet certain conditions and criteria before being made eligible for permanent housing.  An individual who is suffering from, for example, substance abuse, must first complete an intensive drug rehabilitation program before qualifying for public housing. Chronically homeless people cost the government a lot of money when they’re living on the street, because of services like emergency room visits and jail time.

Medicare for All   Passed twice by the California legislature only to have Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger veto it both times! It hasn’t passed the CA legislature for 12 years since despite increased Democratic control while CA has had two “progressive” Democratic Governors neither of whom has publicly demanded the bill on their desk!

Public Bank   Public banking serves as a powerful tool to keep taxpayer dollars in local communities. We have the opportunity now to build a new alternative banking system through locally-controlled socially and environmentally responsible public banks, enabling cities and counties to recapture public dollars and have a say over the financing of our own communities. Why do Democrats refused to create a California Public Bank?

California Public Banking Option Act – AB 1177 (Santiago, Carrillo, Chiu, Garcia, Gonzalez, Kalra, Lee, Ting, Wicks, Gipson), or CalAccount, closes the financial services gap, bolsters the economy, and ensures an equitable economic recovery by providing a stable, accessible platform for underserved communities especially hit hard by the pandemic. It builds on the success of financial access programs CalSavers and CalKids and brings us closer to bridging the racial wealth gap.

Campaign Election Reform

Electoral Reform   Until there is a level field in elections as to financing and public access, we will continue to have corporate monied sponsored candidates win most elections.

Public Financing of Campaigns (“Clean Money”)

Ranked Choice Voting / Instant Runoff Voting Allows voters to vote for their best candidate without fear of throwing the election to the greater of two evils.

Proportional Representation (e.g., Single Transferable Votes) — using PR automatically improves many of the other ingredients of a real democracy  Need to research more!

Open debates — run by the League of Women Voters, not a consortium of the two big political parties

Electronic/Paper Ballot — voting systems that are a combination of electronic voting with verifiable paper ballots, standardized so that they can be audited at all levels: local, state, and national

Abolish the Electoral College and Elect President based on National Popular Vote

End Top- two Candidates    California’s top-two candidates only go to the general election is meant to deny third party access to the major election.   It also leads to the most conservative candidate winning.

Political Campaigning Equality (Free airtime for all candidates, Net neutrality, Free ballot statements except write-ins)

Voter Handbook    Candidate Campaign Statements should be free or low cost.  Campaign websites should be listed with all candidates

Make Voting Easier (Same day voter registration, Weekend elections, no political purging of voter lists)

End corporate personhood

Censorship

My Campaign Slogan      Censorship and the Truth are not Compatible

Climate Change

Climate Catastrophe   The U.S. needs to lead the world in attacking the climate catastrophe with the same level of effort as was made during WWII.    Yet our government and many others are not doing anything of substance.  The government acts like it is not an emergency and that the financial market will solve the problem.

Covid

My full campaign statement on Covid       Is there any circumstance that the government should mandate vaccines for the public? There may be a circumstance, but it should never have happened during the current Covid-19 situation.   Covid was a serious health risk only to those with multiple comorbidities.  95% or more people either never suffered any symptoms or only mild cold flu symptoms.   The CDC director a few months ago stated that 75% of those who have died with Covid virus association had 4 or more comorbidities.  How many died with 3; with 2; with 1.

People were mandated to take experimental unproven vaccines in violation of the Nuremberg Medical Code established after the trials of medical personnel at the Nuremberg trials of the Nazi after WWII.    There were some unusually rapid approvals of several of the mRNA vaccines.   However, the approved vaccines have never been distributed.  The vaccine manufacturers were allowed by CDC to first deplete their large stock of the experimental vaccines.  The manufacturers are in no rush to provide the approved vaccine which they are liable for adverse effects, while their experimental vaccines are immune from liability.   Meanwhile the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) released recent reports of 1,217,333 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 26,699 deaths and 217,301 serious injuries between Dec. 14, 2020, and April 1, 2022.  This is about a 1000% increase in adverse reaction from all vaccines in each of the previous 10 years.  Data experts also claim that less the 10% of adverse reactions to vaccines ever get officially reported.  Yet CDC and media keeps claiming these vaccines are safe.  More

A simple Summation      Imagine a Vaccine so safe that you have to be threatened to take it, for a disease so deadly that you have to be tested to know you have it.

Censorship     Massive censorship of even experts in the field of medicine, vaccines and mRNA technology!  WHY?

The U.S. has world’s Worse Covid Death Rate     This fact alone should have stopped massive censorship and opened up discussion as to why this was happening!

Worldwide Death Rate      Demonstrates only a slight death rate increase in 2020 (7.612), 2021 (7.645) and 2022 (7.678) from 2019 (7.579).  The death rate actually started increasing in 2019 after decades of gradually dropping from 20.15 in 1950 to a low of 7.546 in 2018.   It was only in 2009 (7.969) that the death rate first dropped below 8.0.    In past 72 years only 6 years had lower worldwide death rate than the covid years and barely.  Where is the pandemic?  More

Health Care   “COVID-19 has exposed how poorly prepared the U.S. healthcare system is to handle an epidemic,” said Green Party National Co-Chair Margaret Flowers, who also serves on the Board of Advisors to Physicians for a National Health Program. “We’ve missed the window for containing the virus through screening, testing and monitoring infected people and their contacts — as they did in China, South Korea and other countries. And so we can expect millions of cases.” Flowers also warned that “getting ill in the United States carries the extra burden of potential financial ruin. We need to move to a National Improved Medicare for All health system and paid medical leave as rapidly as possible.”

Death Penalty

Abolish Death Penalty       Allowing the state, the right to kill anyone is obscene.   Too many innocents have been on death row!  Financially it is less expensive to imprison someone for life than to execute.

Families and Community   It’s a long process that further damages the families of the victims & the incarcerated.    It is an emotional, moral, and financial drain on society.

Deficits

Abolish Debt Ceiling     The debt ceiling is used as an excuse to limit needed social spending.   The military budget needs to be sharply reduced.  We spend more money on “Defense” than the next 10 nations combined.   Foreign aid should only be for humanitarian and social needs.   Domestic social spending and helping the poor increases the tax base as money exchanges hands more frequently!

Democrat-Republican Divide

Military-Industrial-Prison Complex   We have a government and mainstream media under the control of the military-industrial-prison complex and a few hundred powerful and rich people who comprise the Deep State.   They act to smear and frame those who might successfully oppose them.

Roe v Wade   Another brick in the wall dividing red and blue America

Drugs

Addiction Is Illness     Drug usage abuse is an addiction and mental illness.    Local community should provide medications to help those addicted to recover.

End Drug War           Destroy the profit driven criminal drug empire by providing free drugs at community medical centers with offers to help end addiction!    End drug use incarceration!

Legalize Marijuana      Legalize marijuana use & cultivation for personal use, but severely limit corporate control & promotion.  Research hemp and its uses especially those which can help alleviate environmental damage!

Pharma       End Pharma financial control of Medical Schools & Journals and government officials.

Economy

Equitable   Government should act to bring people out of poverty by providing free or low-cost essential services.   Tax the super-rich and billionaires out of existence.

Jobs        Create a livable Minimum Wage.  Guarantee public jobs to those unemployed!

Universal Basic Income    A universal guaranteed livable income for all U.S. adults would create a more equitable society.  It would help to eliminate poverty and a major impetus causing most crime.   Tax the rich whatever it takes!

Products 3Rs Will need a 100% repairable, reusable, and recyclable society!

Education

Charter Schools     No tax money should go to private charter schools

Critical Thinking    Next to reading and math, critical thinking should be taught at every level of schooling.  Critical thinking might be the most important subject of all, yet it is seldom taught if at all.        Critical thinking is an important skill to have among the electorate, if you want a Democracy to survive and prosper.

Free Public Universities     Education is an important public resource that makes our country and the world a better place.  The U.S. should provide free public education from pre-K through college

Fund Public Schools     Public schools should be fully funded through our income tax system rather than with separate regressive school bonds and local taxes.  The quality of education and teacher salary should be the same in poor communities as well as rich.

Private Universities      Low income students should be eligible for government assistance

Student Loans      Forgive existing public student debt and negotiate for payment of private loan student debt.  Establish program to help reimburse students for school loans already paid if they haven’t financially benefitted!

Support Teachers      Teachers should be support by their communities with respect and decent livable wages. The quality of education and teacher salary should be the same in poor communities as well as rich.

Teaching and Learning    The education system needs to recognize that students don’t always learn in the same way or rate.   I find the grading system to be detrimental to wholesome learning.   Test with pass/fail system with no negative reference if someone needs many opportunities to pass.  Teaching should help encourage debate and discussion.  Nothing in real life is black and white.

Energy & Climate

Climate Emergency      The U.S. needs to lead the world in attacking the climate catastrophe with the same level of effort as was made during WWII

EPA – Environmental Protection Agency

Toxic Chemicals  I support the ability of the EPA to find “reasonable certainty of no harm” before chemicals could enter or stay on the market. Because of the chemical industry’s influence in Congress, I oppose any law that would pre-empt the ability of states to impose stricter standards. CA has some of the most stringent chemical safety regs in the nation. In fact, at least 18 states have enacted more than 200 laws or policies governing chemical safety due to lack of action under TSCA.

Congress passed a major overhaul of the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act with bipartisan support on June 7, 2016. The bill was a compromise between industry groups wanting predictable, federal regulations and consumer advocates who long argued TSCA didn’t do enough to protect Americans from unsafe chemicals. The new soon-to-be law includes important policy advances: The bill allows the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate chemicals based on their human health effects alone, and it will ultimately allow the EPA to review 20 chemicals at a time, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Generally, state action on a chemical is preempted only when EPA has acted – either by finding a chemical to be safe or by regulating a chemical to address identified risks. State action is also temporarily “paused” when EPA is evaluating a chemical, although states can avail themselves of a mandatory waiver from the “pause” if they still seek to pursue their own regulation.

For nearly 40 years, industrial chemicals have been regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, one of the oldest existing environmental statutes.   Since the law was passed, though, the EPA has regulated – or attempted to regulate – just five dangerous substances that were on the books before 1976 and four new chemicals, and has fully tested only a couple hundred chemicals for safety. That’s a minuscule percent of the roughly 84,000 chemicals on the market today, or even of the 22,000 that have come on the market since the law was passed. About 62,000 chemicals were grandfathered in when the law was passed.  See Open Secrets and Toxic Chemicals

Foreign Policy

End Our Foreign Wars   The U.S continues to be the greatest purveyor of violence in the world as MLK said in the late 60’s.   I belief the situation is much worse today!

Guns

Universal Background Checks      We need universal background checking everywhere; stores, gun shows and individual sales.

IDs on all guns like cars do.

No Assault weapons except for legitimate gun collectors.

Child Safety devices with guns.

Parents responsible for minor’s access.

Need License and training to have or use a gun

Need liability Insurance to own a gun!

Green New Deal

The Green Party first began calling for a Green New Deal in the United States in 2010. It combined a 10-year timeline for a transition to 100% clean, renewable energy and zero emissions, with an Economic Bill of Rights focused on a guaranteed living wage job, universal health care (expanded and Improved Medicare for All), housing, and education. The Green New Deal – Green Party

Healthcare

Medicare for All     We need a Medicare for All similar but all the better than other industrialized nations.   If government is the single payer of healthcare, it will be motivated to promote healthy people and environment.

Housing

Affordable Housing     Housing should be a right.  Providing decent housing to all makes for a better safer community and it is cost effective.

Rent Control    Current rent control programs act to imprison low income renters to the same housing that degrades over the years from poor maintenance.   All apartment complexes should be under a rent control based on inflation plus maintenance costs and not tied to a particular renter.  This would help discourage speculation and free renters to move as needed without undue financial burden.

Stop Real Estate Speculation        End housing speculation.  End property tax on primary residence.  Tax progressively hell multi-home ownership to discourage this practice!     Aid public banks & credit unions to prioritize home ownership!

Walkable Neighborhoods    Government should be active in maintaining friendly, safe and environmentally sound communities   Create Car less communities and cities in future.  Promote bicycle and pedestrian friendly communities.

Stop the Ellis Act Evictions     The Ellis Act (California Government Code Chapter 12.75) is a 1985 California state law that allows landlords to evict residential tenants to “go out of the rental business” in spite of desires by local governments to compel them to continue providing rental housing.

Immigration

Amnesty    Policing the U.S.’s over 15 million undocumented is a waste of tax money. It also wastes FBI, community police and border control time and energy.  We need a comprehensive immigration policy.

Asylum Seekers    Respect the humanitarian rights of refugees as required by International Law and the United Nations.  Need to end Title 42, where over 1.7 million people seeking refuge in the United States have been expelled at the southern border, almost always without being allowed to make an asylum claim or have their day in court, despite the legal right to seek asylum in the U.S. Human Rights First documented more than 10,000 kidnappings, rapes, and attacks on people turned away at the border because of Title 42.

Foreign Policy is the Problem   Stop negatively interfering with other nations and their people.  No more wars, coups, and sanctions!  No more military and police aid.  No more using NGOs to subvert governments!   Only foreign aid should be provided that promotes Democracy and the well-being of the people (e.g., water, electricity sewage, food production).

Path To Citizenship    Green cards and reasonable path to citizenship for those undocumented.

Support Dreamers   Quick citizenship available for Dreamers.

Work Visas     Low-cost renewable yearly work visas not connected to any company! Government should provide information, assistance and protection when needed.   Limit the visas for skilled workers if Americans can do the work.   Skilled worker visas have been used to lower wages and benefits in the workplace.

Inequality

Living Wages       We need a guaranteed living income for all U.S. adults regardless of work status that includes those on SSI and Social Security.  Tax the rich whatever it takes!

Unions     Get rid of “Right to be Slave” laws.  Promote right to form unions.   Encourage a National Union of all workers regardless of corporate or industry status!   Unions should have united and shut down the country when President Reagan fired all the air traffic controllers.  Horrible mistake by the AFL-CIO. This was the beginning of union membership decline!

Cooperatives     Allow workers first right to purchase companies being closed or moved along with public financing.  Promote Cooperatives businesses!

Internet

Internet Neutrality      I fully support Network Neutrality, most commonly called net neutrality, which is the principle that Internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all Internet communications equally, and not charge users different rates based on content, website, platform, application, type of equipment, source address, destination address, or method of communication.   With net neutrality, ISPs may not intentionally block, slow down, or charge money for specific online content. Without net neutrality, ISPs may prioritize certain types of traffic, meter others, or potentially block traffic from specific services, while charging consumers for various tiers of service.

In 2017, Trump’s Republican FCC Board overturned Obama’s FCC net neutrality policy.   Currently there is no Net Neutrality except in California.   Late in 2021, Biden named Jessica Rosenworcel the permanent chair of the FCC. Biden’s other nominee for the FCC, Gigi Sohn, had her Senate confirmation hearing in December and now awaits votes from the committee and full Senate. If Sohn makes it through the confirmation process, Democrats will have the necessary 3-2 majority to lead the agency and reestablish the FCC’s authority to impose rules of the road for the internet.

Internet Access     I support full free access to the internet.  The internet should be a government run utility available to everyone across the country.

Labor

Unions     Get rid of “Right to be Slave” laws.  Promote right to form unions.   Encourage a National Union of all workers regardless of corporate or industry status!   Unions should have united and shut down the country when President Reagan fired all the air traffic controllers.  Horrible mistake by the AFL-CIO. This was the beginning of union membership decline!

Cooperatives     Allow workers first right to purchase companies being closed or moved along with public financing.  Promote Cooperatives businesses!

Work Visas     Low-cost renewable yearly work visas not connected to any company! Government should provide information, assistance and protection when needed.   Limit the visas for skilled workers if Americans can do the work.   Skilled worker visas have been used to lower wages and benefits in the workplace.

Medicare

Medicare Direct Contracting and REACH   Demand an end to Medicare Direct Contracting and REACH. This program pays third-party middlemen to manage seniors’ care, allowing them to keep as profit what they don’t spend on medical services. Even worse, seniors who chose Traditional Medicare are being automatically enrolled in Direct Contracting without their knowledge or consent. We cannot let Wall Street profiteers take over Medicare.

Military

End Our Foreign Wars      The U.S continues to be the greatest purveyor of violence in the world as Martin Luther King said in the late 60’s.   The Military-Industrial Complex has become that grave danger to America that President Eisenhower warned about as he left office in 1960!

Police Reform

Prosecute Police Abuse    There is no excuse to train police to shoot to kill just because they believe they feel threaten.   Just like anyone in society, if you kill someone you need to be independently investigated and tried the same as anyone else.

End Qualified Immunity    There shouldn’t be any qualified immunity, in fact these highly trained individuals, trusted with lethal weapons should be held to a higher standard

Stop Police Militarization     Equipping police like they are soldiers in a war zone does not create a safe neighborhood, but distrust and fear.  It promotes a me and them attitude among police.   It encourages violence  over deesculation!

Mandatory BodyCams    Body cams have helped expose false narratives by police involved in violent encounters.  They need to be better and more locations including vehicle and weapons.

Community Policing   Unarmed or lightly armed police walking or bicycling a community where they learn to know  the people helps create a  peaceful friendly neighborhood.   De-escalation tactics work best with community policing where people having mental episodes or committing petty crimes are seen as humans and not threats.

Independent Investigations    The State should lead independent investigations of all incidents of police involved violence, instead of local internal police/DA run investigations.

Evidence Transparency      All evidence concerning violent actions by police should be promptly turned over to the DA, state agencies and attorneys for families of victims of police violence.   Police should be required to immediately write report of incidents and to submit to prompt interviews by DA and other investigative offices when place on leave.

Political Activities   Police, individually or through unions,  should not be able to endorse, fund raise or otherwise support candidates for elected office that might have future official involvement or official business with police.

National Database of Police Misconduct   On the anniversary of George Floyd’s death, President Biden issued an executive order addressing policing. While largely symbolic, one useful thing it did was finally create a national database of police misconduct.   Although as an Executive Order it can easily overturned by another President.

Abolishing Civil Asset Forfeiture

Legalize Cannabis at the Federal Level

Ending Cash Bail across the United States.

Public Banking

I support the California Public Banking Option Act (AB 1177) which has Passed the CA State Legislature.

California Public Banking Alliance This would help keep money in the community for home, business and vehicle purchases and loans.

Presidential and Government Powers

AUMF – Authorization for Use of Military Force    The authorization granted the President the authority to use all “necessary and appropriate force” against those whom he determined “planned, authorized, committed or aided” the September 11 attacks, or who harbored said persons or groups. The AUMF was passed by the 107th Congress on September 14, 2001 and signed into law by President George W. Bush on September 18, 2001.  Since 2001, U.S. Presidents have interpreted their authority under the AUMF to extend beyond al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan to apply to numerous other groups as well as other geographic locales.  In December 2016, the Office of the President published a brief interpreting the AUMF as providing Congressional authorization for the use of force against al-Qaeda and other militant groups. Today, the full list of actors the U.S. military is fighting or believes itself authorized to fight under the 2001 AUMF is classified and therefore a secret unknown to the American public   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_for_Use_of_Military_Force_of_2001

Freedom of Information Act    The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552, is a federal freedom of information law that requires the full or partial disclosure of previously unreleased information and documents controlled by the United States government upon request. The act defines agency records subject to disclosure, outlines mandatory disclosure procedures, and defines nine exemptions to the statute.[1][2] The act was intended to make U.S. government agencies’ functions more transparent so that the American public could more easily identify problems in government functioning and put pressure on Congress, agency officials, and the president to address them.[3] The FOIA has been changed repeatedly by both the legislative and executive branches.   Apart from the U.S. federal government’s Freedom of Information Act, the U.S. states have their own varying freedom of information laws.                              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_Information_Act_(United_States)     https://www.foia.gov/

Patriot Act     The USA PATRIOT Act (commonly known as the Patriot Act) was a landmark Act of the United States Congress, signed into law by President George W. Bush. The formal name of the statute is the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001.   The Patriot Act was enacted following the September 11 attacks and the 2001 anthrax attacks with the stated goal of dramatically tightening U.S. national security, particularly as it related to foreign terrorism. In general, the act included three main provisions:

expanded surveillance abilities of law enforcement, including by tapping domestic and international phones;

easier interagency communication to allow federal agencies to more effectively use all available resources in counterterrorism efforts; and

increased penalties for terrorism crimes and an expanded list of activities which would qualify for terrorism charges.

The law is controversial due to its authorization of indefinite detention without trial of immigrants, and due to the permission given to law enforcement to search property and records without a warrant, consent, or knowledge. (Though generally, they need a warrant or consent to conduct the search.)[2] Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and federal courts have ruled that a number of provisions are unconstitutional.

It contains many sunset provisions beginning December 31, 2005, approximately four years after its passage. Before the sunset date, an extension was passed for four years which kept most of the law intact. In May 2011, President Barack Obama signed the PATRIOT Sunset Extensions Act of 2011, which extended three provisions.[3] These provisions were modified and extended until 2019 by the USA Freedom Act, passed in 2015.[4] In 2020, efforts to extend the provisions were not passed by the House of Representatives, and as such, the law has expired.[5]

Title I: Enhancing domestic security against terrorism

Title II Enhanced surveillance procedures   established three very controversial provisions: “sneak and peek” warrants, roving wiretaps and the ability of the FBI to gain access to documents that reveal the patterns of U.S. citizens. The so-called “sneak and peek” law allowed for delayed notification of the execution of search warrants.

Title III: Anti-money-laundering to prevent terrorism

Title IV: Border security

Title V: Removing obstacles to investigating terrorism

Title VI: Victims and families of victims of terrorism

Title VII: Increased information sharing for critical infrastructure protection

Title VIII: Terrorism criminal law

Title IX: Improved intelligence

Title X: Miscellaneous

Protecting Our Democracy Act    House passed a bill in December that would impose significant curbs on executive power after the Trump years, including a provision that would require disclosure of the emergency action documents to congressional overseers.

Prison System

Prisons    Eliminate Private Prisons.   Corporate Prisons have the financial incentive to lobby for harsher laws and more people to be imprisoned.  Public prisons provide financial incentive to reduce prison population, rehabilitate, prevent recidivism.

Community involvement   End all the obscene surcharges that help isolate family and friends from the incarcerated.  Encourage family visitations and contact.

End Prison Slavery   All prisoners should be paid minimum wage (rate of their home state) for any outside labor.  Funds should either go into a prisoner’s monetary account or to support outside family.    Monthly pay outs for commissary, etc. expenses should be established out of prisoner’s monetary account.  Monitored outside family and friend contributions should be encouraged to prisoner’s account.

Probation Period After Release   Housing and other living costs should be guaranteed by state for at least a year or length of probation period, along with public jobs at twice home state minimum wage.  Establish programs that help encourage private employment options.   Probation mission should be to continue rehabilitation into normal society and prevention of recidivism.

Prisoner Isolation

Race & Racism

Black Lives Matter   This movement has played an important role in the public acknowledging the long-term systematic racism in society against people of color.  It has especially brought to attention police oppression and brutality inflicted on people of color and galvanized support for the families who have lost loved ones to unjust police violence.

CRT -Critical Race Theory     There needs to be acknowledgement of past wrongs by our society and in our education system.   Let’s all work for a better society and world for all.   [critical race theory (CRT), intellectual and social movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of color.]

Equality For All     All-lives matter, but special consideration needs to be acknowledged for those communities that have suffered oppression and societal forms of racism.

Reparations      I believe any reparations should include programs to help those who most need extra assistance to become full and equal members of society.

Social Security

Social Security & SSI   The minimum SSI and Social Security payments should be the minimum wage in each state. Time in the U.S. legally, should be only limiting factor. All income earned and unearned should be taxed. The age to get Social Security should be lowered to 50-55.

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has become driven by partisan and corporate ideology! The Court is no longer able to serve its function to protect the Constitution of the United States and the cherished freedoms of the American people! The Citizen’s United decision has made a mockery of our election system. The Democratic Party and Presidential candidate should never have meekly accepted the outrageous Supreme Court’s interference in choosing the leader of the Executive office in 2020. This was a violation of separation of the three branches of power guaranteed by our Constitution. It has only been downhill ever since.

There are suggestions of 1) adding 3 more Justices to temporarily balance the Court politically. 2) Set one term limits of 18 years for justices. 3) automatic retirement age for justices.

I have this proposal:  Justices keep life term appointment.  A President gets to nominate and secure one Supreme Court Justice for each 2-year Congressional term.  If the first nominee is rejected by the Senate, the President can make a second nomination.  If the second nomination is rejected by the Senate, the President’s third nomination is automatically declared a Supreme Court Justice. The same for the second justice nomination process. There is no set number of Supreme Court Justices.  If the President has attempted to make both his nominations within at least 6 months of the end of his term and one or both have not been appointed by the Senate, he can automatically appoint is last nominee(s) in that period after the next Presidential election and before the inauguration. The idea is to eliminate the “Mitch McConnell” stall tactic and make the court more diverse and in tune with changes in society. The court could get as large as 23, but more likely eventually around 18.

Taxation

Tax The Rich     It is insane to allow individuals to be so wealthy that they can control and compete with our government.  Tax the billionaires and other super rich out of existence, income and wealth wise.  Have no mercy!

Transportation

City Design   Create Car less communities and cities in future.  Promote bicycle and pedestrian friendly communities.

Public Transit        Free Public transportation should be a priority.

Trains      Promote trains and its infrastructure as an extremely energy efficient transportation system of goods and products.  Make high speed trains part of major infrastructure policy and public sponsored employment!

Vehicles      Rapid transition from fossil fuel driven vehicles to hybrids and then to all electric.   Make vehicles easy to repair, reuse or at least recycle.

Car Sharing      Make liability vehicle insurance be paid at the gas pump, at least while fossil fuel dominates transportation.   Liability is one of the biggest hinderance to car sharing.   Regulate “Ubers” , “Doordashers”and Taxi services as to guarantee worker rights and benefits and for fossil free vehicles.

Ukraine

Ukraine 2014 Coup       The U.S. sponsored and promoted a violent coup in 2014 to overthrow the elected president and government on Ukraine.  This was because the elected government  did not want to abandon Russian trade and association and join the U.S./NATO economic system.  After the coup, Croatia voted overwhelming to join Russia and the eastern Dombas declared autonomy. Russia did not invade Croatia, it has long had a large military presence in Croatia as part of the formation agreements in creation of Ukraine after the dissolvement of the Soviet Union. Part of these agreements were for all nuclear weapons to be removed into Russia proper. After the coup, Ukraine continued to wage a war against the separatist Dombas region ignoring their Minsk Peace agreement, killing over 14,000, destroying much of the area and forcing many people to flee to Russia and elsewhere!

Russian Ukraine Invasion    I believe that the U.S. and NATO deliberately and with full intentions acted to force Russia to invade Ukraine. NATO has expanded to the Russian border despite agreements with Russia in accepting the unification of Germany. The U.S. help promote, orchestrate and quickly approve the 2014 violent coup that overthrew the elected government of Ukraine which had had good relationship with Russia. The U.S. and NATO then helped establish a new government that was quite hostile to Russia. Ukraine became the final red line for Russia. The U.S. and NATO have acted to pressure & promote the Ukraine government to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian resulting in needless deaths and destruction of large parts of Ukraine. While I hope for a peace settlement, I now find it hard to believe that there can be any peace settlement that does not split Ukraine into two with the eastern section under the sphere of influence of Russia.

U.S. NATO militarization and involvement in Ukraine crossed a red line for Russia as to its national security. Russia tried to negotiate a satisfactory settlement and their demands were rational and reasonable! Russia wanted guarantees that there would be NO NATO membership for Ukraine, as it represents a dagger into the heart of Russia; that there would be NO other NATO/U.S. supported militarization of Ukraine; and that Ukraine would stop the military and militias (especially the neo-Nazi Azov) from attacking the people of Crimea and Dombas! These attacks on the Dombas had gone on for nearly 8 years killing over 14,000 people, forcing many thousands more into exile and destroying much of the area. The U.S., NATO and Ukraine refused to acknowledge Russian security concerns. There is NO invasion and only peace in Ukraine if Russia’s concerns were accepted!

The Russia-Ukraine War has been another financial boom for the U.S. Military-Industrial complex. The recently passed $40 billion in military aid was almost unanimously supported by Democrats and Republicans. Nothing unites Democrats and Republicans more than their desire to financially enrich their MIC overlords with taxpayer money. There is no capitalism here only the worse that any socialism could be: enriching the rich so they can terrorize and kill the rest of us! The U.S. Taxpayers pay the MIC to design and build weapons systems. Then we pay outrageous amounts in purchasing these weapons. Then the U.S. government gives additional Taxpayer money to Ukraine to purchase the same military equipment from the MIC which we already purchased. Soon the MIC will again ask for more taxpayer money to replace the military equipment sold to Ukraine. Seems like the U.S. taxpayers have not only paid for all the research and development of these weapons but paid three times for these weapons. War is a racket and the U.S. taxpayers the suckers.

Wall Street

The issue is whether Goldman Sachs, Wall Street, and predatory pharmaceutical firms actually add product or whether they’re just exploiting other people. That’s why I used the word ‘parasites’ in my book’s “title [Killing the Host: How Financial Parasites and Debt Bondage Destroy the Global Economy]. People think of a parasite as simply taking money, taking blood out of a host or taking money out of the economy. But in nature it’s much more complicated. The parasite can’t simply come in and take something. First of all, it needs to numb the host. It has an enzyme so that the host doesn’t realize the parasites there. And then the parasites have another enzyme that takes over the host’s brain. It makes the host imagine that the parasite is part of its own body, actually part of itself and hence to be protected. That’s basically what Wall Street has done. It depicts itself as part of the economy. Not as wrapping around it, not as external to it, but actually the part that’s helping the body grow, and that actually is responsible for most of the growth. But in fact it’s the parasite that is taking over the growth.”

Whistleblowers News – Alternative News

2022-04-26 Steven Donziger Is Finally Free. Onward Toward Justice for the People of Ecuador!   Today, human rights lawyer Steven Donziger woke up free, marking the closure of the latest chapter in Chevron’s scheme to evade justice for contaminating the Amazon rainforest. Now all eyes turn back to the true crime – Chevron’s contamination from 1964-1992 in Ecuador and the company’s efforts to escape accountability. After the seemingly-bottomless money the oil giant spent on high-priced lawyers and PR firms, Chevron has actually gained nothing in its efforts to change the narrative of its toxic dumping in Ecuador. It failed to undermine the Ecuadorian people’s calls for justice.   https://amazonwatch.org/news/2022/0426-steven-donziger-is-finally-free-onward-toward-justice-for-the-people-of-ecuador

2022-04-25 Steven Donziger Walks Free After 993 Days of ‘Completely Unjust’ Detention     “He should have never been detained for even one day,” said an Amnesty International official, “as it has been clear the whole process against him has been in retaliation for his human rights work that exposed corporate wrongdoings.”     Donziger walked free Monday after 993 days of detention stemming from his decades-long legal fight with Chevron, which deployed its vast resources in a campaign to destroy Donziger after he won a $9.5 billion settlement against the fossil fuel giant over its pollution of the Amazon rainforest.  Donziger’s case has attracted global attention and outrage, with the United Nations high commissioner on human rights calling his prolonged detention a violation of international law. Lawmakers in the United States have also decried Donziger’s prosecution as an “unprecedented and unjust legal assault.”   “Corporations must not be allowed to continue abusing the U.S. justice system to silence and intimidate human rights defenders or anyone else exposing their wrongdoing,”    https://www.commondreams.org/news/2022/04/25/steven-donziger-walks-free-after-993-days-completely-unjust-detention

2022-04-22 Daniel Ellsberg on the Existential Threat of Global Conflict     “As the world has correctly perceived, this has the seeds of a regional nuclear war and all-out war between the US and Russia.”    Arguably no human on earth has given more thought over the past 65 years to the possibilities of nuclear war—intentional or accidental—than Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg. Since Ellsberg joined the RAND Corporation as an analyst in 1958, he has accumulated a vast wealth of knowledge and perspective on how superpowers use their nuclear muscle to impose their will on the world, and on how their political and military elites strategize about conflicts in the nuclear era.

Now, in 2022, with Europe once more witnessing a catastrophic land war, with Putin having put Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert, and with Ukrainian forces humbling Russia’s conventional army, Ellsberg is desperately concerned that things could spiral out of control, and the Great Powers could topple into the abyss.   He is furious at the shortsighted policies pushed by George W. Bush’s administration, and continued by the administrations that came after, to expand NATO east onto Russia’s flank. He quotes Cold War theorist George Kennan’s warning that such an expansion was “a fateful error,” the most historic blunder since the end of the Cold War, arguing that it made it almost certain that a humiliated Russia would turn toward nationalism and militarism. In dangling the prospect of NATO membership before  Ukraine’s government, even if NATO didn’t actually want the country as a member, Washington was, Ellsberg came to feel, deliberately tempting Russia to intervene.  https://www.thenation.com/article/world/daniel-ellsberg-ukraine/

2022-03-01 Whistleblower System Doesn’t Work   Joe Carson, a nuclear safety engineer, flagged waste, fraud, abuse and illegality at the Department of Energy again and again and again. His story should show Congress what needs to get fixed.   Carson is not your typical whistleblower, who makes a revelation of wrongdoing and then deals with the fallout.  Instead, he blew the whistle on waste, fraud, abuse and illegality at the Department of Energy, (DOE) and then did it again and again and again.  And to make matters more difficult for him, he had to deal with the fallout not just from DOE, but from the governmental organizations set up to protect whistleblowers.  Consequently, he has spent decades in court.   https://consortiumnews.com/2022/03/01/john-kiriakou-whistleblower-system-doesnt-work/

2022-02-21 Whistleblowers accuse embattled Texas attorney general of misleading the public about corruption scandals   The whistleblowers who sued Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after he fired them for accusing him of bribery and abuse of office are speaking out against him publicly for the first time since filing their lawsuit, in response to what they say are Paxton’s “numerous false and misleading public statements” on the campaign trail. https://www.alternet.org/2022/02/whistelblowers-ken-paxton-corruption-scandals/

2022-02-21 Massive Credit Suisse data leak reveals criminals, corrupt autocrats and human traffickers   A whistleblower leak to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and other media led to reporting on Sunday revealing that Credit Suisse—one of the world’s biggest private banks—knowingly accepted “corrupt autocrats, suspected war criminals and human traffickers, drug dealers and other criminals” as customers.   Data on more than 18,000 bank accounts, holding more than $100 billion was leaked. The accounts included personal, shared and corporate accounts with opened as far back as the 1940s.     https://www.alternet.org/2022/02/credit-suisse/

2022-02-20 Facebook misled investors about battling climate and COVID lies: SEC filings      In complaints to the U.S. government, Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen accused the tech giant of misleading investors about combating climate and Covid-19 misinformation, The Washington Post revealed Friday.   Haugen has gained international attention for speaking out in the press and testifying to Congress. The former Facebook employee is represented by Whistleblower Aid, which filed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) complaints earlier this month.      https://www.alternet.org/2022/02/facebook-investors/

2021-10-24 Appeals court allows whistleblower lawsuit from former employees who accused Ken Paxton of bribery to proceed     A state appeals court found Thursday that former deputies of Attorney General Ken Paxton who were fired after accusing the Republican official of abusing his office are protected under the state’s whistleblower law, allowing their lawsuit against Paxton to proceed.  Paxton’s lawyers had argued in court that he’s exempt from the Texas Whistleblower Act because he’s an elected official, not a public employee. But the court upheld a previous lower court decision that denied Paxton’s attempt to dismiss the case.    https://www.alternet.org/2021/10/ken-paxton-2655356289/

2021-10-19 Drone Whistleblower Thrown in Pen With Terrorists   In a cruel act of revenge, the U.S. government sent Daniel Hale, who exposed U.S. drone civilian killings, to a maximum security prison where he is housed with convicted terrorists.    https://www.blackagendareport.com/drone-whistleblower-thrown-pen-terrorists

2021-10-12 The Fake ‘Facebook Whistleblower’   Two different kinds of activities are being blurred by using the same word, writes Jonathan Cook. And a lot hangs on how we use the term.   The enthusiasm with which much of the media and political establishment have characterised Frances Haugen as a “Facebook whistleblower” requires that we pause to consider what exactly we think the term “whistleblower” means.

But the real problem with calling Haugen a “whistleblower” is indicated by the fact that she has been immediately propelled to the center of a partisan political row – yet another example of tribal politics that have become such a feature of the post—Trump era.   Democrats see Haugen as a hero, blowing the whistle not only on overweening tech corporations that are taking possession of our children’s minds and subverting social solidarity but that are also fueling dangerous Trumpian delusions that paved the way to January’s riot at the Capitol building.    Republicans, by contrast, view Haugen as a Democrat partisan, trying to breathe life into a liberal conspiracy theory — about Republicans. In their view, she is bolstering a leftwing “cancel culture” that will see wholesome conservative values driven from the online public square.  https://consortiumnews.com/2021/10/12/the-fake-facebook-whistleblower/

2021-10-11 Whistleblower slams Capitol Police leaders for Jan. 6 ‘failures’ — accuses ex-USCP head of lying to Congress   Nine months have passed since the January 6 insurrection, and new reporting continues to emerge about that event. According to NBC News reporters Julie Tsirkin and Teaganne Finn, a Capitol Police whistleblower recently sent a letter to members of Congress “accusing the agency’s two senior leaders of mishandling intelligence surrounding the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.”   Tsirkin and Finn report, “In the letter, obtained by NBC News, the whistleblower accused Sean Gallagher, the USCP’s acting chief of uniformed operations, and Yogananda Pittman, its assistant chief of police for protective and intelligence operations, of significant ‘failures’ in the lead-up to and aftermath of the attack. The whistleblower accused Gallagher and Pittman of failing to take appropriate action ‘which directly contributed to the deaths and wounding of officers and civilians.'”   https://www.alternet.org/2021/10/january-6-2655273095/

2021-10-05 In scathing Senate testimony, whistleblower warns Facebook is a threat to children and democracy   Two days after a bombshell “60 Minutes” interview in which she accused Facebook of knowingly failing to stop the spread of dangerous lies and hateful content, whistleblower Frances Haugen testified Tuesday before U.S. senators, imploring Congress to hold the company and its CEO accountable for the many harms they cause.  https://www.alternet.org/2021/10/facebook-testimony/

2021-09-27 Trump admin whistleblower says officials tried to ‘stifle’ warnings about Putin in the 2020 election    Brian Murphy, who served as undersecretary for intelligence and analysis in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from 2018 until 2020, discussed the Russian government’s preference for Trump during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos over the weekend — a preference that members of Trump’s administration didn’t want the intelligence expert to talk about, he said.

Murphy told Stephanopoulos, “In late 2019, early 2020, it was highly classified that President Putin had ordered all of the Russian services to denigrate all of the Democratic candidates and support then-President Trump. So, there was a push-on, across government, at the senior levels — the cabinet officials — to do everything possible to stifle, to get anything out to the American public or our overseers in Congress about that interference.   https://www.alternet.org/2021/09/trump-putin/

2021-09-16 Why Is Julian Assange Being Tortured to Death?    Assange is an advocate for whistleblowers, a promoter of information access and information security for everyone, not just governments and major government-connected corporations.  He, with the help of information security specialists, codewriters, truthtellers and witnesses around the world, received and published material that embarrassed and exposed a number of powerful organizations, including the US government and its many cronies and beneficiaries.   Why is he being tortured to death?  Why is he still being subjected to new and experimental variants of BZ fresh from Porton Down, and deprived, not only of friends, relatives, and unsupervised access to his legal team, but to food and basic care?   The short answer is that he is being held on behalf of the United States and he is being chemically and physically interrogated in Belmarsh (the British Gitmo) in order to reveal his private cryptographic keys, and the names and cryptographic information relating to others within the Wikileaks information network.     https://www.globalresearch.ca/why-julian-assange-tortured/5689298

2021-09-09 How Chevron Used the Law and the FBI to Target Whistle-Blowing Lawyer Steven Donziger      Human rights attorney Steven Donziger has now been under house arrest in his New York City apartment for two years. The reason for his detainment, as Lee Camp puts it in this clip from “Redacted Tonight,” is that Donziger made it his business to hold Chevron accountable for how the Big Oil megacorp “harmed, sickened and killed tens of thousands in Ecuador” and tried to avoid paying “billions of dollars” in restitutions.

Though in 2011 the lawsuit culminated in a historic $9.5 billion pollution judgment, Chevron brass subsequently focused on going after Donziger rather than paying the fee. In late July, he was hit with a six counts of criminal contempt, a conviction stemming in part from his refusal to turn over his computer and other devices, which he fought last month with a request for a new trial. His ongoing pre-trial detainment for a misdemeanor offense is unprecedented for any person without a prior criminal record in federal court.

“So, I’m being prosecuted by a Chevron law firm that has locked me up, deprived me of my liberty,” Donziger says . “I later found out that a prosecutor from the law firm who’s benefiting from her relationship to Chevron, Rita Glavin”—who, as Reuters notes, is also defending former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo as he faces multiple accusations of sexual harassment—”was using the FBI for various meetings with other Chevron lawyers who supposedly were the witnesses against me,” he says. “It’s totally unheard of.”  https://www.mintpressnews.com/chevron-used-legal-system-fbi-to-target-whistleblower-steven-donziger/278426/

2021-09-07 Abortion bounty hunters in Texas aren’t ‘whistleblowers’ — they’re misogynistic vigilantes   One of the many preposterous claims coming from supporters of the vicious new Texas law against abortion is that bounty hunters — who stand to gain a $10,000 reward from the state — will somehow be “whistleblowers.” The largest anti-abortion group in Texas is trying to attach the virtuous “whistleblower” label to predators who’ll file lawsuits against abortion providers and anyone who “aids or abets” a woman getting an abortion.     https://www.alternet.org/2021/09/abortion-bounty-hunters/

2021-06-22 Whistleblowers accuse Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton of distorting testimony to get their lawsuit dismissed    “Whistleblowers say Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is distorting testimony to get their lawsuit dismissed” was first published by The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization that informs Texans — and engages with them — about public policy, politics, government and statewide issues.    https://www.alternet.org/2021/06/ken-paxton-2653495209/

2021-05-04   68 Nobel Laureates Demand DOJ Probe Into Chevron’s Prosecution of Steven Donziger     “A nation that wants to lead on climate issues can’t let multinational oil corporations pervert the democratic process and silence its critics,” said 1997 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jody Williams.    Dozens of Nobel laureates on Tuesday demanded that the U.S. Department of Justice intervene immediately to stop the prosecution of human rights attorney Steven Donziger by a corporate law firm with ties to Chevron, which has relentlessly demonized Donziger since his legal team first won a multibillion dollar judgement against the oil giant in 2011 for polluting the Ecuadorian Amazon.   “If the Department of Justice refuses to intervene in the prosecution of Steven Donziger, it would not only be a gross miscarriage of justice, it would also be an abandonment of their commitment to climate action.”  —Jody Williams, 1997 Nobel Peace Prize Winner.   “We believe that a high-level review will reveal that the case clearly is a violation of Mr. Donziger’s rights and the rights of the affected communities in Ecuador,” wrote the Nobel laureates in a letter addressed to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.      Donziger, whose federal trial without a jury is scheduled to start Monday, has endured 635 days of house arrest on a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum sentence of six months if convicted.    https://www.commondreams.org/news/2021/05/04/68-nobel-laureates-demand-doj-probe-chevrons-prosecution-steven-donziger

2021-04-22 JOHN KIRIAKOU: Memo to Biden — What About the Other Whistleblowers?    Darnella Frazier deserves national commendation. The same goes for Joshua Schulte, Daniel Hale and Darin Jones, all of whom are in dire straits right now.   Darnella Frazier is a whistleblower.  She’s an important one.  Few Americans will know her name, but we should all be thanking her.  Darnella is the 17-year-old who took the video of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin murdering George Floyd.  That video has become the de facto official record of Floyd’s death.  Where would we be without it?  There’s a legal definition of whistleblowing, which many of you may be tired of seeing me write, but which nonetheless bears repeating.  That definition is “bringing to light any evidence of waste, fraud, abuse, illegality, or threats to the public health or public safety.”  That’s exactly what Darnella Frazier did, and because of that, we are now — finally — debating national police reform in Congress.   https://consortiumnews.com/2021/04/22/john-kiriakou-memo-to-biden-what-about-the-other-whistleblowers/

2021-04-06 Drone Whistleblower Daniel Hale’s Guilty Plea    Prosecuting journalists’ sources as spies under the Espionage Act chills news-gathering and hurts the public interest, press-freedom advocates warn.      Press-freedom, peace and human-rights advocates are rallying behind Daniel Hale, the former intelligence analyst who blew the whistle on the U.S. government’s drone assassination program, and who pleaded guilty last week in federal court to violating the Espionage Act.

The Washington Post reports Hale, who was set to go on trial this week, pleaded guilty to a single count of violating the 1917 law that has been used to target WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange and whistleblowers John Kiriakou, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden, Jeffrey Sterling, Reality Winner and others.     Hale was charged in 2019 during the Trump administration after he leaked classified information on the U.S. government’s targeted assassination program to a reporter, who according to court documents, matches the description of The Intercept founding editor Jeremy Scahill. He is the first person to face sentencing for an Espionage Act offense during the administration of President Joe Biden. https://consortiumnews.com/2021/04/06/drone-whistleblower-daniel-hales-guilty-plea/

2021-03-16 MI-5 Whistleblower Annie Machon Wins 2021 Sam Adams Award; Prof. Stephen Cohen to be Honored   Whistleblower Annie Machon has won this year’s Sam Adams Associates for Integrity in Intelligence award.  The late Prof. Stephen Cohen of Princeton and New York University will also be honored for his service as a leading Russia specialist. Britain’s domestic intelligence service MI5 recruited Machon as soon as she completed her studies at Cambridge University and she worked at MI-5 for six years during the early 1990s. When Machon learned the agency was secretly surveilling left-wing politicians and government officials with oversight responsibility for MI5 itself, she found herself not “ethically flexible” enough to ignore such abuses.   Meanwhile, her partner and MI5 colleague, David Shayler, learned that more “ethically flexible” agents in MI6 (Britain’s CIA) were planning to assassinate Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi (a fate he was to meet many years later).  Machon and Shayler ended up blowing the whistle on these and other abuses. https://consortiumnews.com/2021/03/16/annie-machon-wins-2021-sam-adams-award-prof-stephen-cohen-to-be-honored/

2020-11-23 Biden & Hope for Whistleblowers    Will the Biden administration be Obama II, using the Espionage Act to silence national security whistleblowers?  Or will Biden support and defend those individuals who bring to light evidence of waste, fraud, abuse, or illegality?  I don’t want to be overly optimistic, but I believe it will be the latter.   https://consortiumnews.com/2020/11/23/john-kiriakou-biden-hope-for-whistleblowers/

2020-10-12 Proposed Reform to US Espionage Act Would Create Public Interest Defense    Defendants would be able to testify about their reason for engaging in the prohibited conduct.   “A defendant charged with an offense under section 793 or 798 [in the U.S. legal code] shall be permitted to testify about their purpose for engaging in the prohibited conduct,” according to a draft of the bill Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard introduced.   Such a reform would make it possible for whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, Reality Winner, Terry Albury and Daniel Hale to inform the public why they disclosed information without authorization to the press.    The legislation called the Protect Brave Whistleblowers Act is supported by Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.   “If this long-overdue revision of the 1917 Espionage Act had been law half a century ago, I myself could have had a fair trial for releasing the Pentagon Papers in 1971: justice under law unavailable to me and to every other national security whistleblower indicted and prosecuted since then,” Ellsberg declared.    https://consortiumnews.com/2020/10/12/proposed-reform-to-us-espionage-act-would-create-public-interest-defense/

2020-06-20 After release of whistleblower Reality Winner, now attention on Assange, Hale and Snowden    Winner was released for good behavior while in prison and will continue to remain under transitional custody for the remainder of her sentence. Meanwhile, activists and journalists are calling for attention to cases against Julian Assange, Daniel Hale and Edward Snowden.

Winner was arrested on June 3, 2017, while she worked as an outsourced specialist for the National Security Agency (NSA) through Pluribus International Corporation, a federal intelligence contractor. Winner was charged with leaking classified documents to the press on an email phishing operation for electoral registration in Florida, reportedly by hackers based in Russia.   Within hours of the publication of the leaked documents on the online alternative media platform, The Intercept, Winner was arrested for the leak. The Intercept was widely criticized for the manner in which the documents were published and is speculated by many, including Winner’s family, to have led to the arrest.  Winner was later sentenced to a 63-month prison sentence in August 2018, nearly a month after she struck a plea bargain with the prosecutors. She was the first person to be charged under the infamous Espionage Act, under the administration of Donald Trump, and was imposed the longest prison sentence for a whistleblower by a civilian court in the US.    https://peoplesdispatch.org/2021/06/20/after-release-of-whistleblower-reality-winner-now-attention-on-assange-hale-and-snowden/

2020-05-18 COVID-19: Trump Calls Legally Protected Whistleblowing a ‘Racket’ as Fired Scientist Rips President      Dr. Rick Bright — who was fired from his post at Department of Health and Human Services last month — condemned the White House’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic as fatally slow, disjointed and inadequate, reports Jake Johnson. https://consortiumnews.com/2020/05/18/covid-19-trump-calls-legally-protected-whistleblowing-a-racket-as-fired-scientist-rips-president/

2020-05-18 Partisanship Aside, Trump Had Reason to Fire Michael Atkinson, Say Two Former CIA Whistleblowers    The inspector general violated the law by protecting the “Ukraine whistleblower” and  proved to be the enemy of real whistleblowers, say John Kiriakou and Pedro Israel Orta.   Atkinson said under oath in January 2018 during his confirmation hearing that he would protect intelligence-community whistleblowers, specifically saying that he would “encourage, operate, and enforce a program for authorized disclosures by whistleblowers within the IC that validates moral courage without compromising national security and without retaliation.” But that’s not what happened.

Atkinson proved to be the enemy of real whistleblowers. Atkinson was quick to  defend the “Ukraine whistleblower” who per the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel was not a whistleblower at all, as defined by the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWPA).   https://consortiumnews.com/2020/05/18/partisanship-aside-trump-had-reason-to-fire-michael-atkinson-say-two-former-cia-whistleblowers/

2020-05-15 Letter Demands Sweden Probe Misdeeds in Assange Case    A Scandinavian activist group has opened signatures for an appeal to the Swedish government for “a full and transparent investigation” into a “possible disappearance of documents” and the “illegal destruction of evidence” in the Swedish prosecutors and police probe of sexual allegations against Julian Assange.   The appeal also demands Assange’s release from Belmarsh prison in London where he is on remand in an extradition request by the United States on espionage charges for unauthorized possession and dissemination of classified material. It calls on Sweden to provide him asylum.   The investigation the appeal seeks would also look into why Assange’s case appears to have exceeded a statute of limitations as well as into pressure British authorities brought to bear on a Swedish prosecutor against Assange. https://consortiumnews.com/2020/05/15/appeal-demands-sweden-probe-misdeeds-in-assange-case/

2020-03-09 Whistleblowers Confront OPCW Leadership’s Attacks & Cover-up in Douma     Two whistleblowing inspectors at the center of an Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) cover-up scandal are demanding that their suppressed findings get a fair, transparent, and scientific hearing. In formal letters to the OPCW director-general, the two veteran officials also refuted the OPCW’s leadership’s efforts to impugn their credibility.    Both inspectors were part of the team that deployed to Syria to investigate allegations of a chemical weapons attack in the eastern Damascus suburb of Douma in April 2018. The U.S. government accused the Syrian government of a chemical attack, justifying missile strikes on the country by Washington and European allies.    But the inspectors in Douma found evidence that raised serious doubts that a chemical attack ever occurred, and which pointed instead to the staging of the incident by anti-Assad extremists. Their findings were suppressed by OPCW leaders who re-wrote their initial report, then excluded the investigators from the ensuing process.    https://consortiumnews.com/2020/03/09/whistleblowers-confront-opcw-leaderships-attacks-cover-up-in-douma/

2020-02-11 New Leaks Shatter OPCW’s Attacks on Douma Whistleblowers     For the past year, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has been roiled by allegations that it manipulated an investigation to falsely accuse the Syrian government of a chemical weapons attack. An OPCW report released in March 2019 lent credence to claims by Islamist militants and Western governments that the Syrian military killed around 40 civilians with toxic gas in the city of Douma in April 2018. The accusation against Damascus led to U.S.-led military strikes on Syrian government sites that same month.   But leaked internal documents published by WikiLeaks show that OPCW inspectors who deployed to Douma rejected the official story, and complained that higher-level officials excluded them from the post-mission process, distorted key evidence, and ignored their findings.

After months of virtual silence, the OPCW has responded with an internal inquiry that lambasts two veteran officials who raised internal objections, attacking their credibility and qualifications. The OPCW’s self-described “independent investigation” describes the pair as rogue, low-level actors who played minor roles in the Douma mission and lacked access to crucial evidence. In a briefing to member states, OPCW Director General Fernando Arias dismissed them as disgruntled ex-employees. The two “are not whistle-blowers,” Arias said. “They are individuals who could not accept that their views were not backed by evidence.”https://consortiumnews.com/2020/05/18/partisanship-aside-trump-had-reason-to-fire-michael-atkinson-say-two-former-cia-whistleblowers/

2020-01-12 Whistleblower Jeffrey Sterling, Who Went Through Kafkaesque Trial, Wins 2020 Sam Adams Award    Ray McGovern reviews the case of CIA whistleblower Jeffrey Sterling, who spent more than two years in jail, and the decision to award him the 2020 Sam Adams award.   With his Sam Adams award, Sterling brings to five the number of award recipients imprisoned for exposing government abuse (not counting 2013 Sam Adams laureate, Ed Snowden, who was made stateless and has been marooned in Russia for over six years). Worst still, Julian Assange (2010) and Chelsea Manning (2014) remain in prison, where UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Nils Melzer says they are being tortured.   The Sam Adams Award recipient in 2016, John Kiriakou, having served his own two-year prison term for speaking out against U.S. torture, will be among those welcoming Sterling at Wednesday’s award ceremony. Both were subjected to the tender mercies of Judge Leonie Brinkema— widely known as the “hanging judge” of the gallows-friendly Eastern District of Virginia, where Assange has also been indicted under the same World War I Espionage Act used to convict Sterling.   https://consortiumnews.com/2020/01/12/whistleblower-jeffrey-sterling-who-went-through-kafkaesque-trial-wins-2020-sam-adams-award/

2019-10-08 Protect the Whistleblowers—and All Workers Who Speak Out     These government officials—like airport and oil rig workers, like Harvey Weinstein’s employees—need legal protections when they see something wrong.   he president hopes to silence the whistleblowers, saying the original complaint is a “Democratic hoax” and comparing the whistleblower’s sources to spies, even casually floating the word “treason.” His aides follow suit: Stephen Miller claimed the original whistleblower is part of the “deep state”—a new spin on the classic description of the “disgruntled” employee.   https://prospect.org/impeachment/protect-whistleblowers-workers-speak-out/

2019-09-30 JOHN KIRIAKOU: What was this CIA Officer Thinking?   The news is dominated by “the whistleblower,” the CIA officer who reported to the CIA Inspector General (IG) that President Donald Trump may have committed a crime during a conversation with the president of Ukraine.  I’ve been fascinated by the story for a couple of reasons.   First, as a whistleblower and a former CIA officer, I know what must have been going through the guy’s mind as he was coming to the decision to make a report on the president of the United States.  That is, if he is a real whistleblower.

If he’s a whistleblower, and not a CIA plant whose task it is to take down the president, then his career is probably over.  Intelligence agencies only pay lip service to whistleblowing. A potential whistleblower is supposed to go through the chain of command as the current whistleblower did.  If an employee has evidence of waste, fraud, abuse, illegality, or threats to the public health or public safety, he is supposed to go to the Inspector General.  The IG, then is supposed to go to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).  And when the DNI investigates and finds the complaint credible, he then takes it to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.  That sounds straightforward, but it’s not.    https://consortiumnews.com/2019/09/30/john-kiriakou-what-was-this-cia-officer-thinking/

2019-09-27 MSM Defends CIA’s ‘Whistleblower,’ Ignores Actual Whistleblower   While championing a CIA agent who should be considered an operative until proven otherwise, much of the press is ignoring the plight of Chelsea Manning, who exposed actual U.S. war crimes, writes Caitlin Johnstone. “The whistle-blower who revealed that President Trump sought foreign help for his re-election and that the White House sought to cover it up is a CIA officer who was detailed to work at the White House at one point, according to three people familiar with his identity,” The New York Times reports. “The man has since returned to the CIA, the people said. Little else is known about him.”

So there you have it. A mysterious stranger from the lying, torturing, propagandizing, drug trafficking, assassinating, coup-staging, warmongering, psychopathic CIA was working in the White House, heroically provided the political/media class with politically powerful information out of the goodness of his heart, and then vanished off into the Langley sunset. Clearly there is nothing suspicious about this story at all.    In all seriousness, even to call this spook a “whistleblower” is ridiculous on its face. You don’t get to call someone from U.S. intelligence a whistleblower unless they are actually whistleblowing on U.S. intelligence agents.    https://consortiumnews.com/2019/09/27/msm-defends-cias-whistleblower-ignores-actual-whistleblower/

2019-03-18 Another Whistleblower in Solitary Confinement   Last year I wrote about a whistleblower from New England who took direct action to save a child’s life and who paid for it with his freedom.  Marty Gottesfeld is now serving 10 years in prison for trying to save Justina Pelletier from abuse at the hands of her doctors at Children’s Hospital in Boston.  An investigation by The Boston Globe found that Children’s Hospital had done this before, to other parents. Indeed, in the previous 18 months, the hospital had removed at least five other children from their parents for “medical child abuse,” something that hospital staffers called a “parentectomy.”   The story drew the attention of Marty Gottesfeld, a computer-security expert. He was appalled at the treatment to which Justina and her family were being subjected and he decided to act. He initiated a denial of service attack against the Children’s Hospital computer system and against the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network, where Justina was later moved.

Justina’s parents kept up the pressure on the hospital, the state, and the judge overseeing the case. Justina and her sister were able to smuggle out a 45-second video in which she implored the judge to let her go home to her family. It was clear that after 16 months in a psychiatric ward her problems were not “in her head.” They were in her genes. The original Tufts doctor was right. Justina had mitochondrial disease. The judge finally reversed his decision and sent her home.

Prosecutors, however, focused on Gottesfeld and he was soon arrested.  His case was assigned to Judge Nathaniel Gorton, the same judge who oversaw the harsh case against privacy pioneer Aaron Schwartz, who eventually committed suicide under the weight of his spurious federal charges.  Gorton is known as a hanging judge; he proved that with Gottesfeld’s sentence.   Gottesfeld has tried to make good use of his time since he entered the “justice” system.  He has reported on waste, fraud, abuse, and illegality in the Justice Department; he’s written about the corruption and conflict of interest of his judge; and he has spoken out against intolerable prison conditions.  His punishment has been swift and severe.

Marty was placed in solitary confinement and is now scheduled to be transferred to something called a Communications Management Unit (CMU).   A CMU puts onerous controls on a prisoner’s ability to communicate with the outside world. He has been covering Justice Department malfeasance for years now at such sites as The Western Journal, Red State, World News Daily, and now The Intercept.  But CMU placement will deny him any access to the press whatsoever. It will silence him.  This is, of course, a violation of his constitutional right to freedom of speech.  But the Justice Department has only to say that Marty’s journalism is a “threat to the continuing operation of the institution” to justify this loss of rights. Solitary confinement makes everything even worse.   https://consortiumnews.com/2019/03/18/another-whistleblower-in-solitary-confinement/

2018-10-16 How the FBI Silences Whistleblowers   Speaking truth to power has ruined Darin Jones, a former FBI contract specialist who reported evidence of serious procurement improprieties. He should be the last federal whistleblower victimized, writes John Kiriakou.  The problem is that we are the exception to the rule. Most whistleblowers either suffer in anonymity or are personally, professionally, socially and financially ruined for speaking truth to power. Darin Jones is one of those people. He’s one of the people silenced in Barack Obama’s war on whistleblowers. And he continues to suffer under Donald Trump.  https://consortiumnews.com/2018/10/16/how-the-fbi-silences-whistleblowers/

2017-02-23 Whistleblowers and the NRC: Do as I say, not as I don’t    Workers at nuclear power plants form the front line of nuclear safety: They are the ones most likely to detect safety problems when they arise. For example, it was nuclear power plant workers who reported that reactors were being operated with broken and impaired safety equipment at the Salem and Hope Creek nuclear plants in New Jersey in 2004. And it was plant workers who alerted officials in 2013 to a security manager who permitted unqualified individuals to hold security positions at the Palisades, Michigan, nuclear power plant. And it was plant workers who discovered extensive corrosion of the reactor vessel head at the Davis-Besse nuclear plant in 2002, in which a small amount of cooling water that had been leaking from the reactor vessel over an extended period of time had corroded away nearly six inches of the metal vessel, leaving only a quarter-inch-thick layer. Had that thin layer been breached, the rapid loss of cooling water through the opening could have caused an accident worse than Three Mile Island.    https://thebulletin.org/2017/02/whistleblowers-and-the-nrc-do-as-i-say-not-as-i-dont/#post-heading

2016-09-26 CIA Whistleblower Kiriakou Honored for Integrity     The U.S. government gives free passes to officials who commit war crimes but imprisons whistleblowers who tell the truth, a fate that befell CIA’s John Kiriakou for disclosing torture. But he was honored by some ex-intelligence officers, reports Ray McGovern.   Former CIA official John Kiriakou, who spent two years in prison for revealing the truth about White House-sanctioned torture, became the 15th recipient of the Sam Adams Award for Integrity at a ceremony at America University.   Last year, PEN Center USA, a human rights and freedom of expression organization, honored John Kiriakou, with its “First Amendment” award. It has since become clear that while John Kiriakou sat in prison, Senate Intelligence Committee investigators were uncovering heinous details about torture by the CIA from its own original banality-of-evil cables, which showed that CIA and others had lied in claiming torture “worked.”   https://consortiumnews.com/2016/09/26/cia-whistleblower-kiriakou-honored-for-integrity/

2016-09-21 Journey to No FEAR: 9/11   The final stage of the battle to pass the No FEAR Act, designed to protect those who blow the whistle on discrimination in the federal civil service, was overshadowed by the events of 9/11/01. 2015-06-25 War on Whistleblowers, After Obama     The war on whistleblowers has injected fear of prosecution into all honest communications between national security officials and reporters, meaning that the public instead gets a steady diet of U.S. government lies, propaganda and self-serving rhetoric, a problem addressed by John Hanrahan.     https://consortiumnews.com/2015/06/25/war-on-whistleblowers-after-obama/

2015-06-25 Was Race a Factor in Sterling Case?    President Obama’s war on whistleblowers grinds on with ex-CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling dispatched to a federal prison in Colorado, far from his home and family. In Sterling’s case, there’s also the disturbing issue of race, as Norman Solomon explains.   Last week CIA whistleblower Jeffrey Sterling went to prison. If he were white, he probably wouldn’t be there.   Sterling was one of the CIA’s few African-American case officers, and he became the first to file a racial discrimination lawsuit against the agency. That happened shortly before the CIA fired him in late 2001. The official in Langley who did the firing face-to-face was John Brennan, now the CIA’s director and a close adviser to President Barack Obama.    https://consortiumnews.com/2015/06/25/was-race-a-factor-in-sterling-case/

2015-05-12 Punishing Another Whistleblower    Just weeks after ex-CIA Director David Petraeus got a no-jail-time wrist-slap for divulging secrets to his biographer/lover, ex-CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling got 42 months in prison for allegedly alerting a U.S. journalist to a dubious covert op, a double standard of justice, says ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern.    Former CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling was a whistleblower who was then targeted by the U.S. legal system for retaliation, which now includes a 42-month prison sentence. His real “crime” was going to the Senate Intelligence Committee to report on a dubious and dangerous covert operation that involved giving doctored nuclear-bomb blueprints to Iran.

Ahough Sterling’s action was “within proper channels,” the move made Sterling a dead duck inside the CIA, which doesn’t want any of its employees to do that and it appears neither do the members of the congressional “overlook” committees who would prefer not to know such things. So, when the account of the Iran scam appeared in James Risen’s 2006 book, State of War, the CIA and the Justice Department went after Sterling although the leak might well have come from someone on the Senate committee or elsewhere, not Sterling  https://consortiumnews.com/2015/05/12/punishing-another-whistleblower/

2015-03-25 Journalists Who Hate Whistleblowers   A disturbing trend in mainstream U.S. media is how many “star” journalists side with the government in its persecution of whistleblowers and even disdain fellow reporters who expose secret wrongdoing, an attitude that is destroying what’s left of American democracy, as John Hanrahan explains.    https://consortiumnews.com/2015/03/25/journalists-who-hate-whistleblowers/

2015-02-04 Convicting Sterling to Chill Whistleblowing    In the cause of protecting government secrets, the CIA and Justice Department made an example of ex-CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling by convicting him of exposing a dubious covert operation without presenting clear-cut evidence that he did, a chilling message to others, notes Norman Solomon.    The leak trial of CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling never got near a smoking gun, but the entire circumstantial case was a smokescreen. Prosecutors were hell-bent on torching the defendant to vindicate Operation Merlin, nine years after a book by James Risen reported that it “may have been one of the most reckless operations in the modern history of the CIA.”   That bestselling book, State of War, seemed to leave an indelible stain on Operation Merlin while soiling the CIA’s image as a reasonably competent outfit. The prosecution of Sterling was a cleansing service for the Central Intelligence Agency, which joined with the Justice Department to depict the author and the whistleblower as scurrilous mud-throwers.     https://consortiumnews.com/2015/02/04/convicting-sterling-to-chill-whistleblowing/

2015-01-21 Jesus as Whistleblower   Christian churches typically present the religious mythology about Jesus, as the supernatural Son of God who was sacrificed on the cross as atonement for man’s sins. 2014-06-07 An Appeal for More Whistleblowers   As more and more secrecy envelopes the U.S. government with millions of hidden records concealing both past and present there is no practical alternative for democracy but to fight back with “unauthorized” disclosures, as Norman Solomon explains in an appeal for more whistleblowers.  Blowing the whistle on wrongdoing creates a moral frequency that vast numbers of people are eager to hear. 2011-11-16 Whistleblowers Honored on Nov. 21    In recent decades, information — the lifeblood of democracy — has often been cut off from the American body politic on “national security” grounds or because insiders feel it wouldn’t be “good for the country.” To counter that benighted view, a group of ex-U.S. intelligence officials honors brave whistleblowers, this year Thomas Drake and Jesselyn Radack.    Our country’s need for courageous whistleblowers is now. That is mostly why Sam Adams Associates for Integrity in Intelligence (SAAII) publicly honors people who have spoken truth, and suffered the consequences, as Sam Adams, my former analyst colleague at CIA, did on Vietnam.

So that is why, this year, we are honoring Thomas Drake, who was a senior official at the National Security Agency where he observed serious waste, fraud and violations of the constitutional rights of Americans, and Jesselyn Radack, a Justice Department lawyer who objected to the abusive treatment of John Walker Lindh, dubbed the “American Taliban” during the early days of the Afghan War. [See details below.]     https://consortiumnews.com/2011/11/16/whistleblowers-honored-on-nov-21/

2011-10-25 Whistleblowers    Do the higher-ups ever take responsibility for what their subordinates do?      Somehow I missed the movie The Whistleblower, an action film about a woman in the UN peacekeeping forces who tries to hold her male colleagues and superiors accountable for sexual coercion and abuse of girls, boys, and adults they are supposed to be protecting.   Movie director [Larysa] Kondracki also noted that top officials in U.N. headquarters should be scrutinized just as carefully as peacekeepers for their moral and legal conduct.   “This is not just about peacekeepers on the ground. We have videos of high-level diplomats walking around U.N. headquarters with people they purchased,” she said during the forum.   If that’s true, what hope is there for undoing the problem on the ground?   https://prospect.org/civil-rights/whistleblowers/

Stop the REACH program and Privatization of Medicare

In the waning days of the Trump Administration, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) launched a pilot program called Medicare Direct Contracting. This under-the-radar program invited third-party middlemen to “manage” the care of Traditional Medicare beneficiaries. It also created a financial incentive for these middlemen to frustrate patients and deny medically necessary care.

Thanks to the efforts of thousands of activists, Direct Contracting became thoroughly discredited and the Biden Administration was pressured to address the program. Unfortunately, their response was to simply rebrand Direct Contracting as Medicare REACH, a program that retains the worst elements of its predecessor and in some cases is even more generous to industry.

Dr. Ed Weisbart explains the dangers of REACH

On February 24, 2022, shortly after Biden Administration officials announced the REACH program, Dr. Ed Weisbart broke down the fundamental flaws of this new model. Bottom line: Unless we stop REACH, it could spell the end of Medicare as a public, nonprofit, social insurance program.

Taking action to stop REACH

On March 31, 2022, Healthcare-NOW! hosted a panel discussion as part of its Medicare for All Strategy Conference. Diane Archer of Just Care was joined by Drs. Ana MalinowLaurel MarkSusan Rogers, and Ed Weisbart of Physicians for a National Health Program and Edward Si of Students for a National Health Program to discuss how Medicare advocates can most effectively demand an end to the REACH program.

ASCE’s Journal of Engineering Mechanics Again Censors 9/11 Rebuttal to Article that “Gravity caused Twin Towers to Collapse”

After agreeing last month to review a hugely important article on the WTC collapses that has been censored for over a decade, the ASCE’s Journal of Engineering Mechanics has rejected the article AGAIN. The editor says he is rejecting the article “on scientific grounds,” but he does not explain what those grounds are.

We (at Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth) are now going back to the ASCE to demand that the editor produce a “technically reasoned decision” if he’s going to reject the article. That is what we asked for in the ethics complaint that led to the new review.

I encourage you to read the authors’ stinging letter to the ASCE.

Sure, Looks like Gravity

Prestigious journal agrees to new review of 9/11 paper a decade after censoring it

AE911Truth May 4, 2022 PRINT

It took a four-year ethics complaint process and more than ten years of waiting, but finally the current editor of the ASCE’s Journal of Engineering Mechanics has agreed to conduct a new review of a “discussion paper” by researchers Tony Szamboti and Richard Johns that was unfairly rejected by the journal’s former editors in 2013. Their grounds for rejecting the discussion paper was that it was “out of scope,” even though it was critiquing a paper published in the same journal.

The censored discussion paper refutes a highly influential paper from 2011 co-authored by engineering professor Zdeněk Bažant that purports to explain how, through gravity alone, the top of the North Tower could crush through the lower structure at nearly the rate of gravity without observably slowing down.

Bažant’s analysis has served as the foundation of the official story of 9/11 since his first paper was published in the Journal of Engineering Mechanics in January 2002. Publishing this critique of Bažant’s 2011 paper would deal a devastating blow to his theory — and could prove to be a turning point in how the engineering community views the World Trade Center collapses.

AE911Truth and the authors are now working vigilantly to ensure that the review is conducted fairly. If the paper is accepted, it should be published within the next three to six months.

For more on this major development, we invite you to watch this 15-minute video update from AE911Truth Director of Strategy Ted Walter, who spearheaded the ethics complaint that resulted in getting the journal to agree to a new review of the censored paper.

No Covid Pandemic According to Worldwide Death Rate Data

No Covid Pandemic According to Worldwide Death Rate Data

Chart and table of the World death rate from 1950 to 2022. United Nations projections are also included through the year 2100.

The worldwide death rate has gradually declined for 68 years from 1950 when 20.15 people died per 1000 people. to 2018 when only 7.546 people died per 1000 people.

2019 is the first year ever that the death rate increased, a year before Covid-19.  The increase was 0.440% or 440 more people per one million.

In 2020 when covid was declared a pandemic and there was no vaccinations the death rate went up another 0.440%.

In 2021 with worldwide vaccination distribution and significant masking and isolation of the unvaccinated and those with covid the worldwide death rate again increased slightly at the same rate as the previous years.

In 2022 the worldwide death rate has continued to increase at the same rate as the previous 3 years despite government authorities acknowledging that covid related deaths are considerably less than in 2020 and 2021.

The worldwide death rate has increased at the same rate for the past 4 years beginning the year before covid through the worse of covid into this year of considerably less covid related deaths.

The data suggests that even the small death rate increases the past 4 years has nothing to do with covid.

Only 7 years  2013-2019 have lower death rates than any of the 3 covid years and even then barely less.  The covid years death rate is only 38.1 % of the death rate of 1950 and only 1.01% greater in 2022 than 2019.

According to the worldwide death rate data there was never any covid pandemic and the slight death rate increases of the past 4 years have little to do with covid.
