2024-08-16 Why Israeli Soldiers Rape, Torture, and Massacre   Instilling fear in the Palestinian people is not a side effect of the IDF’s brutal violations of human rights. It is the strategy.

On October 25, Israeli politician Moshe Feiglin told Arutz Sheva-Israel National News that “Muslims are not afraid of us anymore.”   It might sound odd that Feiglin saw the element of fear as critical to Israel’s well-being if not its very survival.   In actuality, the fear element is directly linked to Israel’s behavior and fundamental to its political discourse.

Historically, Israel has carried out massacres with a specific political strategy in mind: to instill the desired fear to drive Palestinians off their land. Deir Yassin, Tantara and the over 70 documented massacres during the Palestinian Nakba, or Catastrophe, are cases in point.  https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/idf-rape-torture

Abu Obeida Reveals Israeli Losses – Resistance Roundup – Day 121  The spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, revealed the number of Israeli military vehicles destroyed, and soldiers killed, in addition to the number of Resistance attacks carried out in recent days.  Below is the brief statement of Abu Obeida, followed by the latest updates by the two main Resistance forces in Gaza, and the Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah.  https://www.palestinechronicle.com/abu-obeida-reveals-israeli-losses-resistance-roundup-day-121/

2024-03-02 ‘Israel’ admits to 3 dead soldiers, as Resistance in Gaza upscales ops     Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for a significant operation yesterday in Khan Younis, where an Israeli force was lured into a booby-trapped two-story building before it was blown up by Resistance fighters.

The Israeli army admitted today that the operation led to the killing of 3 soldiers of the Bislamach Brigade’s 450th Battalion and the wounding of 14 others, 6 of whom are in serious condition, raising the total number of Israeli soldiers and officers killed by the Resistance in Gaza to 245 since the start of the ground invasion of Gaza.

In a similar operation on Saturday, the group revealed that two anti-personnel IEDs previously planted by the Resistance were detonated against an Israeli unit consisting of 7 soldiers in Khan Younis, confirming direct casualties among the force.https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/-israel–admit-to-3-dead-soldiers–as-resistance-in-gaza-ups

2024-02-02 One Day, 25 Soldiers – Resistance Roundup – Day 119  Al-Qassam Brigades has announced that it has killed 15 Israeli soldiers from distance zero in the Jawazat area west of Gaza City.   For its part, Al-Quds Brigades said that it had targeted an Israeli force composed of ten soldiers, taking shelter in a residential home in the city of Khan Yunis, declaring that all ten fell between dead and wounded.   https://www.palestinechronicle.com/one-day-25-soldiers-resistance-roundup-day-119/

2023-12-24 A weekend of combat in Gaza kills more than a dozen Israeli soldiers, a sign of Hamas’ entrenchment    More than a dozen Israeli soldiers were killed in combat in the Gaza Strip over the weekend, the Israeli military said Sunday, in some of the bloodiest days of battle since the start of Israel’s ground offensive in late October and a sign that Hamas is still putting up a fight despite weeks of brutal war.

The mounting death toll among Israeli troops is likely to play an important factor in Israeli public support for the war, which was sparked when Hamas-led militants stormed communities in southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing 1,200 and taking 240 hostage. The war has devastated parts of the Gaza Strip, killed more than 20,000 Palestinians and displaced nearly 85% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people.    Their deaths bring the number of Israeli soldiers killed since the ground offensive began to 152.

But the growing number of dead soldiers could undermine that support. Soldiers’ deaths are a sensitive and emotional topic in Israel, a country with compulsory military service for most Jews.   The names of fallen soldiers are announced at the top of hourly newscasts, and in a small country of about 9 million people, virtually every family knows a relative, friend or co-worker who has lost a family member in war.

Even if Israelis have been supportive of the war effort, there has been widespread anger against the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which many criticize for failing to protect civilians on Oct. 7 and promoting policies that allowed Hamas to gain strength over the years.   On Saturday night, thousands of people demonstrated in pouring rain in Tel Aviv, chanting “Bibi, Bibi, we don’t want you anymore,” referring to Netanyahu by his nickname.   Netanyahu has avoided claiming responsibility for the military and policy failures leading up to Oct. 7, saying he would answer tough questions once the fighting is over.   https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/a-weekend-of-combat-in-gaza-kills-more-than-a-dozen-israeli-soldiers-a-sign-of-hamas-entrenchment/ar-AA1lY6DB
