With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the U.S. MIC desperately needed a new enemy and one which they could blame for the 9/11 attacks. Osama was the perfect villain who would direct any immediate attention away from the need for a real investigation of the facts of 9/11. An investigation which has still never happened except among some members of the 9/11 Truth movement.
