UPDATE: FASTING for CEASEFIRE at Pelosi’s SF Home, Oct. 27-29.

Day 1: Excellent first day! Many interactions with people walking in Pelosi’s neighborhood. Overwhelmingly, the majority share our position, some quite vehemently! Police were very professional and very “tolerant”: we surrounded her home with banners and pink peace flags. Good chalked message (see photo) left the tone for tomorrow’s rally in SF tomorrow, STOP THE GENOCIDE in GAZA . Beautiful breaking of fast at dusk surrounded by a lovely candlelight vigil and tribute to Gaza, with pink camellias and a Call for CEASEFIRE! LET GAZA LIVE!
We all grieve for the death and suffering that will occur due to the incursion of Israeli troops and tanks now wreaking horror on the people of Gaza!
Shame on our government for it’s complicity in this brutal carnage!
Tomorrow: Day 2:
SF Chronicle and KQED expected to show up in the morning. Arrive by 9:00 am if you can. (Pelosi very likely to be home)
8:30 am: Morning nyckelharpa Serenade for Peace (Swedish folk music)
9:30 am: YOGA for PEACE, led by Sharat Lin.
11:30-ish am: March from Pelosi’s home (or drive) to the STOP THE GENOCIDE in GAZA rally at Embarcadero. (2.7 miles)
Some of us will walk through neighborhoods that never witness protests…will you join us?
3:30-ish pm: Arrive back at Pelosi’s SF home to continue vigil and FASTING for CEASEFIRE.
Sunset: (6:15pm) Collective Breaking of Fast and Candlelight vigil. For the Love of the Children of GAZA!

Vigil for GAZA at Rep. Pelosi’s SF home, October 22

SF CODEPINK invites you to join our fast and vigil for a Ceasefire in Gaza. The crisis is worsening daily in Gaza due to the genocidal crimes committed by Israel with the full support of President Biden and most of our Congress. Urgent collective global actions are drastically needed.

Join us in S.F., or fast from your home. This will be a collective daily fasting, sunrise to sunset, and meditation for peace for the people of Palestine and Israel. Optional: Some of us will choose to do a 24/7 fast until CEASEFIRE is achieved, joining CODEPINK activist Leslie Angeline, who has been fasting for Gaza since early October.
We ask everyone to contact their Congress members and Senators @(202) 224-3121 and the White House @(202) 456-1111 daily. Urge them to demand a CEASEFIRE in GAZA. Ask Representatives to sign onto House Resolution 786 calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
WHERE: 2640 Broadway (near Divisadero), at Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi’s S.F. home.
WHEN: Oct. 27-29, starting Friday, October 27, 3pm. Fasting and vigils daily, Sunrise to Sunset, at Pelosi’s home. Join us for as much as you can, even an hour or two helps.
WHAT: Daytime fasting, bannering, and leafletting at Pelosi’s home, to conclude with an evening communal sunset meal to break the fast, followed by a candlelight vigil, calling for IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE & PEACE in GAZA. Bring music, song and food to share for evening sunset meal! Bringing your own folding chairs. Public transport is difficult, carpools encouraged.
Note: On Saturday, October 28, 12:30pm, we will take our fast from Pelosi’s to the SF Ferry Building Plaza to join the STOP THE GENOCIDE in GAZA mobilization, returning afterwards to Pelosi’s to continue our vigil and break our fast together.
Sunday, Oct. 29 will be the last public fast & vigil at Pelosi’s home (sunrise to sunset). After our communal meal and candlelight vigil on Sunday evening, people are encouraged to continue their fasting and calls to U.S. officials from their own homes until a CEASEFIRE in GAZA is obtained!
