Replanting the sacred Peace Olive Tree at the Unitarian Church in Walnut Creek. WWII Conscientious Objector and renown Passivist Peace activist Abraham Zwickel originally had planted this tree near the base chapel at the Concord Naval Weapons Station. Abraham had been a regular at the 24/7 Nuremberg Actions vigil had been occurring for over two years.

A group of us set up the American Friends Service Committee’s Eyes Wide Open military boot exhibit at Diablo Valley College (DVC). We wanted this visual display to bring home the loss of life in our senseless wars after 9/11.
Joined a number of times with friends in the 24 hour walk relay around a school track to raise funds for cancer research and to honor many of those who have lost their lives!
Crosses of Lafayette Memorial is a hillside memorial across from the Lafayette Bart Station. Each cross or other symbol represented each American soldiers who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I helped built 75 of the original 300 crosses. However, when the hillside became so full, new crosses stopped at 4000. A large sign continued to track each soldier’s death. For me, the memorial also recognizes and honors all the injured soldiers, and all the innocent civilians in those two countries who have lost their loved ones their homes and way of life. in senseless wars!
