2021-12-10 Most Reported U.S. Omicron Cases Have Hit the Fully Vaccinated — CDC Most of the 43 COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant identified in the United States so far were in people who were fully vaccinated, and a third of them had received a booster dose, according to a U.S. report published on Friday. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that of the 43 cases attributed to Omicron variant, 34 people had been fully vaccinated. 2021-12-10 FDA Now Wants 75 Years to Release Pfizer Vaccine Documents “ … it is dystopian for the government to give Pfizer billions, mandate Americans to take its product, prohibit Americans from suing for harms, but yet refuse to let Americans see the data underlying its licensure.” The documents in question stem from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed in August by Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency (PHMPT).

The agency said it can release an initial batch of approximately 12,000 pages by the end of January. Past that date, the FDA said it can process and disclose only 500 pages of documents per month. This would mean the entire cache of documents would not be fully released until 2096. The FDA’s initial timeline would have meant the release of the documents would not be completed until 2076, or 55 years from now. 2021-12-10 ACTION ALERT: Protect Americans’ Rights to Medical Freedom H.R. 550, a federal bill passed Nov. 30  by the U.S. House of Representatives, would expand state and local health department vaccine-tracking systems to monitor the vaccination status of American citizens. States would provide the information to the federal government.

The bill, “Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2021,” will be difficult to stop as it already has bipartisan support. It passed the house with the support of 294 U.S. Representatives, including all Democrats and 80 Republicans. The bill is now under consideration by the U.S. Senate where, if passed, it could be implemented in under 12 months.

H.R. 550 it would lead to a monumental invasion of our rights as American citizens. 2021-12-10 Chief Justice Rejects Request to Block Air Travel Mask Mandate Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts on Thursday dismissed an emergency request to block the federal mask mandate for air travel amid litigation in the lower courts. Michael Seklecki, a Florida resident, filed a lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration on behalf of himself and his 4-year-old son, and Lucas Wall, from Washington, joined the suit, all citing medical reasons. 2021-12-10 Minnesota Bar Owner Who Defied Virus Orders Found Guilty The owner of a bar in Albert Lea was found guilty Thursday of six criminal misdemeanor charges and sentenced to 90 days in jail for defying Gov. Tim Walz’s executive orders to close her business last winter. The jury found Lisa Hanson, 57, guilty after deliberating for an hour, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported. Prosecutors had asked that Hanson be fined $500 and jailed for several days, but Judge Joseph Bueltel gave her a 90-day jail sentence and a $1,000 fine, saying he wanted to send a message to people who violate executive orders. Hanson has also been hit with fines totaling over $27,000 from separate legal actions brought after she left the state while facing the charges. 2021-12-10 New York to Issue Mask Mandate for Businesses Without Vaccine Requirements New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced Friday that the state will implement an indoor mask mandate for businesses that do not require vaccinations for customers and staff, citing rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Starting Monday, all indoor businesses will have to either validate people’s vaccination status or mandate all people age 2 and older wear a mask. 2021-12-10 Fauci Says Omicron-Specific Version of COVID Vaccines May Not Be Necessary Anthony Fauci isn’t convinced COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers are going to need to produce an Omicron-specific version of their vaccines. 2021-12-10 Japan Researchers Use Ostrich Cells to Make Glowing COVID Detection Masks Japanese researchers have developed masks that use ostrich antibodies to detect COVID-19 by glowing under ultraviolet light. The discovery by Yasuhiro Tsukamoto and his team at Kyoto Prefectural University in western Japan could provide for low-cost testing of the virus at home, they said in a press release. In a small study, test subjects wore the masks, and after eight hours, the filters were removed and sprayed with a chemical that glows under ultraviolet light if the virus is present. Then, just before members were set to vote, Republican leadership stripped that ban from the bill, leaving it only banning COVID-19 vaccine mandates for state and local government employees, contractors and public school students. Dr. John Witcher, an emergency room physician, said he was let go from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Yazoo City, Mississippi, for taking three COVID-19 patients off Remdesivir, an antiviral drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat the virus, and instead trying to put them on ivermectin. Throughout the pandemic, public health officials dangled mass injections as the only solution to end the pandemic and save lives from COVID. Now even with mass injections and some receiving two and even three shots, excess deaths are rising.

• In the week ending Nov. 12, the U.K. reported 2,047 more deaths than occurred during the same period between 2015 and 2019 — heart disease and strokes appear to be behind many of the excess deaths.
• In the last 13 weeks alone, about 107,700 seniors died above the normal rate, despite a 98.7% injection rate.
• In Vermont, where the majority are also injected, excess deaths are the highest they’ve been since before the pandemic.
• An investigation using official data from NHS and the U.K.’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that deaths among teenagers increased 47% since they started getting COVID-19 shots.
• Deaths from COVID-19 also went up among 15- to 19-year-olds after the shots were rolled out for this age group.

2021-12-08 Can Your Landlord Evict You for Not Getting a COVID Vaccine? In our opinion, a person cannot be evicted or denied housing based on their vaccine status. Doing so invades the fundamental right of privacy, the right to make medical decisions for their family and ultimately interferes with their medical freedom.

A landlord-tenant relationship is a contractual one, usually governed by local law and the terms of the lease. Landlords and property managers must comply with the implied warranty of habitability for residential tenants. A landlord may exploit the provisions of the lease by asking for proof of vaccination under the pretext of maintaining a safe and habitable environment for all. However, because vaccinated people can become infected with and transmit COVID to others, the “safe and habitable environment” argument should be moot.

this is uncharted territory as there is no robust, national regulatory scheme yet in place. That means it is possible that in the near future, refusing to comply with a landlord’s vaccination requirement may result in eviction proceedings. However, a Nov. 12 ruling by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals barred OSHA from enforcing the ETS “pending adequate judicial review” of a motion for permanent injunction. The country constructed “quarantine camps,” facilities where people who test positive for COVID, or come in contact with someone who tested positive, are confined. According to Freddie Sayers, journalist at UnHerd, Australia has become a “case study for what happens when a country will do anything to keep COVID numbers low.”

Hodgson told Sayers police tracked down everyone who came in contact with a friend of hers who tested positive for COVID. They captured Hodgson’s license plate using traffic cameras, and sent two undercover officers to her door. Police didn’t give Hodgson the option to test for COVID, but instead forced her into the camp under the threat of a $5,000 fine. Here is what we find for healthy kids with COVID-19:

• For healthy kids, the risk of going to the hospital is 51 per 100,000.
• For healthy kids, the risk of going to the ICU is 8 per 100,000.
• For healthy kids, the risk of death is 3 per 1,000,000 with no deaths reported in kids older than 5.
• Kids 5 to 11 have a lower risk than kids <5 and adolescents 12 to 17.
• Kids 5 to 11 have a risk of going to the ICU of 2 in 100,000; 0 died.
• Among kids who died of COVID-19, 38% were already on palliative/ hospice care.
• MIS-C/ PIMS was less common with Delta.

Because these risks were so low, we must demand robust evidence and large trials to show that the potential benefits of vaccination outweigh potential harms. The benefits (at best) are going to be very small — what is lower than 3 per million? — so even rare safety signals can tip the scale.
